'So, you meeting up with Jack now?' Maddie asks the same day at evening.
'I guess. Maddie, can I talk to you about something?' I ask. Maddie frowns.
'Sure, anytime. What's wrong?' She asks. I sigh and look away from her.'Nothing's wrong, it's just that- Actually, everything is wrong. This whole Jack thing going on. I don't wanna do it anymore.' I tell her.
'Why not? You seemed pretty happy with him. What changed?' Maddie asks curiously.'I don't know what changed. Something changed, but I can't figure out what that something is.' I answer.
'Did you meet another guy?' Maddie asks.'No, I didn't. It just feels like I never even liked Jack. I mean, he's funny and kind, but I don't like him in that way.' I answer. Maddie stays silent for a few seconds, obviously thinking about what I'm saying.
'Then why did you start this whole thing with him? Why didn't you pull away when he first kissed you and said you just wanted to be friends?' She asks then. I sigh again.
'That's exactly the thing I don't understand. It was something about him. Something about his smile... It looks so familiar. It makes me think of someone. I just can't seem to figure out who that someone is.' I tell.
'And that someone... Do you like him in that way? Or her of course, that's totally fine by me.' Maddie asks.'I don't know. I can't figure out who Jack reminds me of.' I answer, moving my hands through my hair.
'Okay, let's analyze Jack's appearance. He has curly brown hair, right?' Maddie asks.
'Yes, and he has green eyes. Now that I'm thinking about it, he kind of looks like Harry.' I answer. Maddie gives me a look.'Then there's your answer. That's why you started this whole thing.' She says.
'What do you mean? Do you mean that I started the thing between Jack and I because of.. Harry? He has nothing to do with it.' I deny.'You said it was something about his smile. Correct me if I'm wrong, but do you suddenly happen to know who the someone is that reminds you of when you see Jack smile?' Maddie asks. Suddenly, a clear imagine of a person appears in my brain. Harry Styles, to be exact. His smile. It's exactly the same as Jack's smile.
'Fuck.' I mumble.
'You're thinking of Harry, aren't you?' Maddie asks. I sigh, and nod.'What do I do?' I ask, on the edge of crying.
'I suggest you end whatever you had with Jack, and then just see what time brings you.' Maddie advises me.'I agree. But what if I'm gonna hurt Jack? I don't wanna hurt him.' I say.
'Who says that he even liked you in the first place? I dunno if you've noticed, but you're fucking pretty, and guys like Jack only go for that. Does he even know in what town you live?' Maddie asks.
'No. He knows nothing about me. Every time we're together, he does nothing but kiss me.' I confess. Maddie sighs.'Why didn't you tell me about that before? I could've warned you.' She asks.
'I thought it was normal. I never had any sorts of relationship with a boy. I don't even have a relationship with Jack. What's there to end, actually? I can just pretend nothing ever happened and act like I don't know him.' I suggest. Maddie shakes her head.'He'll show up at our hotel room. You can't just never speak to him again all of the sudden. You must tell him that whatever you guys have is over, and then he'll leave you alone.' She explains. I raise both of my eyebrows once, knowing that she's right.
Suddenly, someone knocks on the door.'Please, don't let that be him.' I whimper hopelessly while wandering to the door. I open the door, and it indeed reveals Jack.
'Oh, um- Hi.' I say on an awkward tone.
'Why are you still here? You said we'd hang out at 9PM, and it's already past thirty.' Jack says.
'I'm sorry, I guess I forgot. Um, I need to talk to you. Would you like to come in?' I ask. Jack doesn't answer. Instead, he just barges in.
