"The man" ~10

Corbyn's POV

I looked at Kaitlynn directly in her eye. She had amazing blue eyes. They weren't like Daniel's bright blue. They were a grayish blue. She was starting into my eyes. She said something but I didn't hear her. 

"CORBYN MATTHEW BESSON! ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME!" She screamed.

"Sorry! Sorry!" I said back, breathing heavily.

"It's okay, nerd."

"Thanks," I said laughing at the fact she called me a nerd.

She looked over to the playground. She seemed a bit freaked out. I looked in the direction she was. I saw a man. He had a scar on his face. 

I continued staring at him. Suddenly I felt something grab my side. I looked down. Kaitlynn started hugging me. 

She mouthed the words "Pretend to be my boyfriend..." 

I looked at her confused. I had understood. She looked scared. I assured her that everything would be fine. 

The man walked over. He stood in front of us. Kaitlynn looked at him in fear. She turned away from the man and just put her face in my stomach.

"Looks like the loner finally got a friend or is he another boyfriend." He said, trying to get her to look at him. "I hope it's another boyfriend. That way I can see your heart break again."

Kaitlynn refused to look at the man. I was shocked at what he said. I wanted to know what he was talking about.

"Oh, I remember. It's not a boyfriend because no one is capable of loving you," he said laughing. "Isn't that right. You should just go back to where you came from freak." 

He laughed again. I couldn't stand hearing him torture Kaitlynn with those words. 

She looked up to me while the man was laughing. Tears had been going down her face. I felt bad for her. 

I remember the words she mouthed to me. I had to show this guy that I cared for her. I had to pretend to be her boyfriend though I wish I was her real one.

I lifted the face of Kaitlynn and whispered "Sorry". She looked at me confused. I picked her up.
