There was nothing but silence between the two, Josette brushed it off and poured the soup that she had made into a bowl. It had been a while since Jerome's mom was reported missing, out of all the people she thought he would be thrilled, but he wasn't.
He sat on the couch looking down at the floor. She noticed he had been acting very strange, it really creeped her out. Everything he told her didn't match up with what the told the police. Slowly she approached him setting the warm bowl on the coffee table that had old papers scattered all over it.
He felt the spot next to him sink in a bit as she sat down next to him, rubbing his back. "Are you at least a little bit happy?" She asked with a hopeful smile, Lila treated Jerome awful ever since he was a baby, Josette was expecting a celebration, hell she was happy that she was possibly gone.
Jerome looked at her with a blank expression "She's my mom jo." He said quietly making her face drop, he really did seem hurt at her sudden disappearance. In his own head he was having a fucking blast, this was a thrill for him, but he had to keep up the act of playing the sad and heart broken son.
"Why did you tell the GCPD that she never abused you?" She asked with curiosity. "...you kinda told them the opposite." The girl added carefully. He didn't respond. 'Fuck she knows' he thought, he really wanted to tell her so they could celebrate but he knew she would be beyond freaked out. They were total opposites, and unlike him she wasn't prone to murder.
"You should leave." Jerome said not looking at her once. "Why?" She ask as she got up. "I'm trying to help you." Her arms fell to her sides as she shook her head. "Never mind, forget it." Walking to the door she grabbed her jacket. "I hope they find your mom." She said with honesty as she began to open the door.
Quickly Jerome got up, regretting his decision, he should just say it now, part of him knew she wouldn't snitch, he did a lot of fucked up shit that was only between them, so he counted on her to keep this to herself. "I killed her." He spoke quickly, he knew he was gonna get caught eventually, if anyone should tell her it was going to be him, not some old news channel. She stayed that same spot trying to comprehend what he just said.
Her hands got visibly shaky, the finders slowly wrapped around the door handle, just one more twist and she was home free, anyone would be scared in this situation. She thought that if he already killed his mom, how hard would it be to kill his best friend. She really thought he was gonna kill her next.
As she slowly pulled the door open a creaking sound was made, ultimately making her curse under her breath. Before he could react she tried to make a run for it but Jerome was much faster, and stronger.
Wrapping one hand over her mouth, then one hand around her waist to pull her back into the living room. While they were both struggling she kicked her legs everywhere, knocking over glass cups and old books.
