Making amends

A few weeks had past, nothing had happened in Gotham nothing dramatic. Jerome was staying on the low, just for a while longer though. Jeremiah hadn't talked to Josette since the weird questioning with the two detectives.

It was Saturday which meant no school. Josette had slept in really late, she got off of work at 3am last night. It was now 1pm. The tired Josette rubbed her eyes and stretched as she walked down the stairs. She looked at the time, her eyes widened.

The girl rolled her eyes seeing the mess she had to pick up. First was the dishes, not that much dishes to wash but she wanted to get it over with. After putting the plug in she started the hot wash adding soap in as well. She began scrubbing.

Josette looked out the window wondering when she was going to see Jerome, he hadn't stopped by at all. Her thoughts were soon interrupted by a sound of liquid hitting the concrete just outside her window. She looked up rolling her eyes dramatically. "Gabe I already told you stop peeing off the balcony! I don't want Mrs. Donavan complaining about seeing your junk!!." She yelled.

"Oh please she's got my 18th birthday marked on her calendar!" The 14 year old boy remarked.

Josette scoffed and continued washing dishes.

After she was done all the kids came stomping down stairs like a stampede.

"I would like some eggs and cheese with a side of pancakes topped off with strawberry's please." Gabe said jokingly. The rest of the kids including Josette let out a few laughs.

"Yeah right. Milks in the fridge, and the cereal is already on the table." The oldest replied.

Each kid hurried to get their bowls and spoons. Josette noticed that Philip gave the last bowl to Katie, leaving no bowl for him.

"Would you rather eat cereal from a cup or a plate." Josette asked with a laugh.

"How the fuck do you eat cereal from a plate?" Philip asked returning a few chuckles.

"So I'm guessing you want a cup." Josette tosses him the cup, he caught with no trouble.

The kids began eating their cereal.

"You know Josette you should marry some old rich guy...it's not that hard just take all his money when he dies. Then maybe you can buy us a new gaming console. Like the PlayStation" Elijah suggested with food still in his mouth.

"Yeah because I'm totally gonna waste some of my life hoping for a old man to die just to buy you a PlayStation." A scoff escaping her mouth as she spoke.

Elijah laugh. "So is that a yes?"

Her phone began ringing. "Oh shut up Elijah." She laughed rolling her eyes throwing a rag at him as she passed them going into the living room.

She didn't recognize the number that was calling her but answered anyways.

"Hello?"

"Oh hey Josette it's me! Beatrix."

Her heart stopped for just a second, that was her best friend. Honestly Josette didn't know if she considered her a friend anymore, but she's also Jeremiahs new girlfriend. He just left Josette to be with her. Again they weren't together but she's just pissed because he just left without a word. The least they could do was tell her instead of going behind her back.

"Oh hey how have you been?" Josette asked crossing her arms.

"I've been okay...I just miss my best friend." Bea responded with guilt.
