Josette knew it, she didn't know how but she knew deep down in her body and soul something was not right.
The girl looked at the clock, 1am. Way past her sleeping schedule. The kids were back and sleeping, Jerome still wasn't there, which was normal, he usually came later at night.
Looking down at her phone she decided to call Jeremiah, she wanted to see if anything new had happened in Beas case.
After two rings he greeted the brunette. "Hey Jo." He answered not sounding that happy. "Hey Jeremiah. How are you holding up?" Josette asked slightly adjusting to her seat on the kitchen chair.
"...I don't know. I'm trying." Was all he said. A frown appeared on Josettes face. Imagining what Jeremiah must be going through. He was without his person, Josette would go crazy if anything happened to Jerome.
"I-I'm sorry." Josette managed to get out. "How about you? She's your friend."
"Um." Her voice was shaky. "I miss her. And it kills me to know she's out there somewhere, not safe."
"Jeremiah I need to tell you something..." she whispered almost inaudible. "I know you don't want to here this, I know it's a bad time, but I feel like it's my job to tell you."
Jeremiah stood up from the couch where he was at she took in a breath "What is it?" He asked.
"Lately I've been feeling different. A bad kind of different. For a long time I can almost feel all of you. Bea, Derek, Jerome, you Cordelia, I can feel your energy..." A tear rolled down her face.
"But I....I can't feel Beas, not anymore...." Jeremiah clenched his fists. 'She knew, she knew Bea was dead, somehow she did. If she knew Bea was already dead imagine all the other things she could find out with her powers.' Jeremiah though.
"No she's not." He said through the phone pretending to shed a few tears by sniffling. "I know she's not. Beatrix is out there somewhere and she's coming home."
Josette wasn't surprised by his reaction. He was in denial as any grieving boyfriend would be. "Okay. I'm sorry. I don't completely know for sure, but I know what my powers are telling me."
The line was silent, only some sniffling from both Josette and Jeremiah, the only difference was one of them was faking it.
"What are you doing up anyways? Are you alright?" He asked concerned. Josette shook her head "long story." She answered not wanted to get into the whole bathtub incident.
"I'm just scared...." the girl added. Honestly she was. Two other girls have gone missing, it could've been anyone, and without Jerome she was a hundred times more scared.
"Your okay Jo. Nothing's gonna happen to you." Jeremiah reassured, and he was right, because he was who she was afraid of.
The ginger sighed and spoke again "It's late, I'll let you go. I'll talk to you tomorrow."
"Okay. By Jeremiah, be careful..." then she hung up.
The girl was surrounded by darkness. All the lights had been off.
She got up from her seat and walked up stairs slowly the only thing that could be heard was the creaky stairs.
"This sucks." Josette whispered to herself looking up at the ceiling as she laid down on her bed.
Every time she closed her eyes she saw Beatrix. She was scared to sleep knowing she would have a nightmare no doubt.
Josette reached for a journal that was next to her. She decided to pass time by going over all the names they had come down to. Jerome was so picky and only wanted one name the Josette didn't like, Rosalene.
Josette shook her head as she saw that Jerome had put the name down and circled it with multiple colored markers. She let out a laugh at the fact that he had even drew hearts.
Looking over at the names countless times she didn't like any of them. This was harder than she thought.
The girl glanced to her right seeing a figure. With the room being dark she didn't know what it was. She slowly got up and squinted her eyes. Instantly her heartbeat increased. Josette was to afraid to move an inch.
Taking a beep breath she gathered up her courage and turned on the light. "Really?" She scolded herself. It was just a coat. "I'm acting like a child."
A loud bang was heard from down stairs, it sounded like a door slamming. Josette jumped up and let out a loud welp. Instantly she put her hands over her mouth.
Her feet made contact with the cold floor as she lifted herself off her bed.
With all her ability, she desperately tried to be as quiet as possible on her way down stairs.
Her poked her head out from behind the wall looking into the kitchen. Only half her face was visible. She let out a sigh seeing the moonlight hit her fiancé's red hair.
Clearly he heard the sigh because instantly he looked up seeing her poking her head out from the wall. "What are you doing still up?" Jerome asked.
Instead of giving him an answer she quickly made her way towards him and gave him a hug. Placing herself on her tipytoes from his height as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Jerome was caught off guard by her actions but adjusted to this wrapping his arms around her waist. "I missed you." Josette whispered letting out yet another sigh of relief.
He let out a chuckle "I've been gone for only ten hours Jo."
Josette shook her head "it's just today was weird." She released herself from the hug and looked up and him. "I was just scared and my mind was playing tricks on me I guess."
"Is that why you were hiding behind the wall?" Jerome asked "I thought you were someone else. Like that person who's taking the girls. Ugh I don't know."
A frown took over his face "Your safe. I'm not gonna let anyone or anything even get near you." He brought his head down placing a kiss on her lips.
"Come on, let's go to bed."
Josette waited patiently on the bed as Jerome was in the shower. Nothing but silence, she was lost in thought staring at the white wall in front of her.
Whoever that person was, they were still out there she didn't know if that made her more scared or angry.
The bed sunk in making her turn her head, she hadn't realized that Jerome was already out.
The shirtless ginger looked at her a small smile forming on his pink lips. "I thought someone was in the house." She spoke softly.
"What?"
"I was taking a bath...and right before I got in I saw Beatrix in the mirror. Her lips were b-blue. Bruises all over and hand prints on her neck."
Jerome stayed silent waiting for her to continue.
"Then I accidentally fell asleep in the tub." Jerome looked at her, she knew he was going to scold her for doing that but she continued anyways. "I felt these hands around me and they pushed me down into the water for a while. I couldn't get up."
"Maybe it was a bad dream..." Jerome suggested "it felt so real. I swear it was real."
Jerome moved closer to her and rubbed her back. "Every time I close my eyes I see her..."
"I think she's dead." Finally, the brunette said it out loud.
Jerome shook his head and brought her closer to him. He didn't know what to say. He wasn't sad about her dying but he hated when Josette was sad.
