"I tried Josette." Jim told her as he paced around his apartment. "But it was too late. That day I visited you other officers saw the footage, they reported it. I'm so sorry." He apologized.
Josette let out a small laugh "you called me all the way here to apologize? Jim it's okay, I forgive you."
"I hear all the things they're saying, I mean they completely trashed your place, they're constantly taking pictures of you." The detective said practically babbling on at this point.
Josette sighed. "Yeah...I guess that does suck. About all that....how do you do it?" She asked glancing up at the young detective.
"Do what?" He questioned taking a sip of his drink. Josette took a deep breath as she began "well some people hate you, I mean to some people think you're nothing and to others your a complete hero to them. And you don't seemed bothered by the people who hate you."
Jim gave a nod and thought for a minute. He look a seat next to her and began. "Well of course no everyone's gonna love you and that's okay. Yes some people do hate me but I don't care because I stand up for what I believe in." Josette gave a few nods but stayed silent.
"Here. Take Jerome for example, he's one on the many people who hate me simply because I want to change Gotham for the better, thats what I believe in. And he wants to make Gotham in his image, chaotic." The man took a short pause. "The people who stand by me are people who agree with bettering our city. People who don't....have a different out look on things, and are fine with the way things are. So I guess what you need to ask yourself if where do you stand."
The young girl ran her fingers through her hair in frustration "that's the thing....I have no idea what I believe in....this is so confusing. It's like I can't please them. Everything I do is always wrong."
"Well that's the problem. You can't please everyone." Jim said putting a hand on her shoulder.
"Jerome said to make them all 'want to be me' or something. So they can respect me." Jim looked at her and facepalmed. "Well I suggested you don't listen to him. That's Jerome's way of doing things. It's not yours."
Josette gave a nod "okay. Yes your right. So do what I think is best." Jim gave a nod. "Yes. If you think Jerome's idea is better who's stopping you. But you can think for yourself too you know?"
Josette rolled her eyes "I know I just doubt myself allot. But thanks Jim, for the advice." She said as she stood up from the seat. "Anytime kid." He smiled and got up after her the two shared a short hug. "I'll walk you out." Jim added and the two strolled out of the apartment. Jim opened the door leading outside of the complex.
