Shoutout to @Dancing_Queen007 for this suggestion! Sorry that it took me so long :p
"Virgilllll, don't be like this!" Remus whined. He had a blindfold over his eyes and I was trying to guide him out to Logan's car. Apparently, today is the 3 anniversary of when Remus and Roman arrived at SJMH. Of course, we weren't there anymore, but this day always made Remus somewhat depressed. I suppose I understood what he meant.
Damion didn't want him to feel that way all day. So, he got Patton, Logan, Roman, and I in on a little surprise for the crazy Prince brother. "I know you hate surprises, Re. But trust me, you'll thank me!" I promised him.
"Unfair! I want to talk to my lawyer!" He jokingly demanded. I rolled my eyes, getting him carefully out the door. He crashed into one of the pillars on the porch. His head made a sound like a dense coconut. He groaned, rubbing his forehead.
Just my luck, having Logan and Patton watching me from the car. I blushed in embarrassment, feeling bad for the poor brother. Remus laughed after a while as we continued to the car.
Patton helped me get Remus into the back of the car with me. I buckled him in as Logan began to back out of the driveway. "Do I get to take the blindfold off now?" Remus asked. Patton laughed, looking back at us.
"Not yet, kiddo," He giggled.
"Do I get to know where I'm being taken then?"
"Nope!"
"Do I get to know who else is in the car?"
"I can assure you Remus, it's just Virgil, Patton, and myself." Logan chimed in, glancing at him through the top mirror.
"Where's my brother and Damion?" He asked.
"They're at the place we're heading to!" Patton told him. Remus let out a groan, putting his head on the rest behind him. I could tell that he was getting antsy. His fingers were drumming against the seat, his leg was bouncing, and he kept biting his lip. I felt bad for the guy. I know we're doing this to try and help him, but so far, all we're doing is adding to the stress of the day.
"So...Remus," I said, trying to break the silence. "3 years since first stepping into SJMH. How's it feel?" He chuckled, leaning forward and putting his elbows on his knees. Even though I couldn't see his eyes, I could tell they were full of stories.
"Honestly at that point in mine and Roman's lives, I thought it was over. I never thought we'd ever get out of there. I thought we'd die in there. But, meeting Patton and, eventually, Logan, Damion, and you...it really helped a lot. Sometimes I think, it just helped both of us knowing that people actually cared about us. I know it helped me.
"What makes today the hardest was I thought I'd lose Roman. As we continued there, he was excelling in his recovery process. All of his progress reports were coming back golden. And then there were mine. My schizophrenia always found a way to get the better of me. I cried so many times to Roman, telling him I didn't want to lose him. I don't know. Today just has so many shitty feelings surrounding it. Shitty memories and shitty feelings."
"That's really big of you to admit, Remus," Patton cooed. The prince smirked, turning his head to where the window was.
"Yeah, just don't tell Roman I said any of that. He'll have more blackmail on me than ever before!" Remus sighed. "Do I get any hints now?" He begged, making us all laugh.
"If it makes you feel any better, Remus, we are here," Logan told him. The prince immediately perked up. I smiled, even though he couldn't see it. I've never seen Remus in this type of light. He's so much more personable than I once thought.
Logan parked the car, barely giving Remus enough time to jump out of the car. He stood up and threw the blindfold off. His eyes sparkled at the sight before him. I giant stage with some people crowding around it. The stage had nobody on it yet. Just two guitars, a keyboard, and a drum with that had the logo to VEMON RISING on it.
"A concert?" Remus questioned. I nodded as we all exited the car. We headed closer to the venue, Logan and Patton having their hands together. As we got closer, a lot of people made way for us. We smirked as Remus found it odd.
Soon enough, we were practically touching the stage. Remus' eyes were full of whim, he was entranced by all that was happening. Little did he know, the main event had yet to happen.
I saw Roman peeking out around the curtain. He was running stage manager for Vemon Rising to, not only get some experience in the field but help out Damion. I gave him a small thumbs-up, showing him that we were ready to go. He gave one in return as he disappeared behind the curtains.
The night sky absorbed the bright, colorful stage lights. Soon enough, Henry, Damion, and the other two band members came on stage. Henry grabbed onto his guitar, slinging it over his shoulder. Damion grabbed his guitar too. Remus' mouth dropped when he saw Damion on the stage.
He was wearing black leather pants with a red T-shirt with the band's logo on it. And of course, he had his black bowler hat resting neatly on his head. Damion approached the microphone, listening to the crowd scream and cheer for them.
"Thank you for coming out tonight everyone!" Damion greeted. "Tonight's a very special night! Not only is it our first concert as a band. But, it's the first time my boyfriend has seen me play." He looked directly at Remus when he said that. The prince's heart melted in his chest, his eyes softening, I have never seen before. "I love you, Re! This one's for you!"
The drummer queued Damion in. He strummed his guitar before going to the edge of the stage. He sat crossed-legged directly in front of Remus, the microphone angled down to his mouth.
"I'd rather be tall.
"I'd rather be smart,
I'd rather be sure you know I care.
Wherever you go,
Whatever you start,
I'd rather be sure you know I'm there.
I'd rather always be apart of whatever you do.
I'd rather be me, with you."Wherever we go,
I already trust,
I'd know what to do if it were us.
I'd know what to say,
I'd know how to be,
I'd know your entire syllabus.
I can't think of any other thing in the world I would rather do...
If I could be,
I'd rather be me, with you..." He sang.Remus stood on the tips of his toes to meet Damion in a kiss. The entire crowd cheered, filling the concert with a loving vibe. Remus turned to us, actually smiling. "Thank you," He beamed, wiping a loose tear from his eye.
Patton, Logan, and I just nodded, allowing Remus to turn back to the stage. The concert continued the rest of the night, the energy and loving vibe never dying down once.
