CHAPTER SEVEN

Her room consisted of a thin matress and a torn blanket. It was so untidy that she dreaded sleeping in it

With these conditions, she thought about home, how is mama taking my departure? How is she doing? Is she fine? How about my papa? Is the house still the same without me?
She thought about the cosiness of her room and the tears she'd been holding in finally fell. She cried herself to sleep but no sleep came. Left alone to her thoughts and memories of before her sixteenth birthday.

Engulfed in her grief , she failed to notice the eyes that were on her the entire time. The sigh that escaped the person's lips and the look of pity thrown her way.

She was awoken by the voice that called her to start her duty. This consisted of feeding the prisoners half rotten meat and a glass of water. She wondered how these people ate this food .

As she went on feeding them, some looked at her with hope, some with pity, some with hate, some with lust as others just snarled at her. Regardless of their behavior, she just smiled kindly and gave each an equal amount.

They were so many such that by the time she was done, her back was badly aching and all she wanted was some sleep but the moment her head hit the ground, her name was called to go and serve other newcomers and the cycle went on and on until it was night time.

Determined to find the hidden room, she sneaked from her room.

"Many have tried to get a glimpse of that room and all of them end up getting beheaded. You're not an exception ."

An old man whose head remained facing down spoke

"But I want to know what's inside there."

"You have this Alpha aura around you that only old Alpha's like me can smell and I don't know who you are but have you heard the prophecy?" He asked

"Which prophecy?"

"The prophecy that says an Alpha of all Alpha's chosen by the gods shall arise and bring an end to the rule of the rogue Alpha. I have taken a responsibility to find Alpha's who will help him when the time is right and I'm offering you that." The old man said

"I have a mission to complete and then maybe I'll consider it. But for now I need to know what they are hiding in there."

The old man laughed at her as if she had said the joke of the year .

"You are new here and they are watching you right now as we speak . So you won't even make it to the last row of cells. What you need to do is gain their trust otherwise your head is next and don't say I didn't warn you."

She sighed knowing the man was right.

"Could you at least tell me your name.."

"My name is Kyle and I'm a retired Alpha. If we make it out of this , we can be good allies." he smirked at this.

"How sure are you that you'll make it out?"

"Because I believe in the chosen alpha, that's what is keeping me sane."
He said this before facing the wall and closing his eyes.

The guards took prisoners everyday .
Some came back badly wounded with no one to dress their wounds. She observed that their wounds took longer to heal unlike wolves heal. Some came back with bruises while some never came back at all. Wherever place they were being taken to was not good at all.

She prayed that the old man would not be taken away as they had not had time to talk after that night. Unknown to her, someone was always in the shadows watching her every move but so far she had proved that she had no ulterior motives.
Trey would constantly check up on her just to make fun of her but she was used to it and they were becoming so close.

The more the days went by the more she came close to finding the hidden secrets. The old man had been taken and came back with various bruises.
When she inquired about where he was taken his answer was simple
"The chosen one has been traced to this kingdom and they are taking all male prisoners to find out what we know."

When Trey came around to joke she asked "What's all the fuss about the chosen one?"

He just scoffed and said
"That is a matter that concerns males not females who don't know how to even fight!"

She wanted to retaliate but Angel told her to let it pass that it was an advantage to them.
 

That night she sneaked out again and this time not even the old man could stop her.
"Today is the full moon and all the wolves are out on a run. You have less than an hour to get what you want." Kyle said as if he had been waiting for her to make a move.

Angelica just nodded running to the last row of cells. There was a jelly like barrier that prevented anyone from getting but she just passed through like it was meant for her without any harm.

On the other side she saw her, thin and chained to a wall her head hanging low with her clothes torn in almost all parts.

"Selene !" She called
