CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

Their faces were contorted in a hard frown. Their eyes held betrayal, hurt even , which they tried hiding .
"Ooh dearest mother, couldn't expect less!" Elijah said maintaining a glare on her which she equally returned.
"Why?" Nicklaus asked

She eyed him, up and down a sinister smile stretching her beautiful face.
"Oooh, so the poor wretched little boy decides to question me today . Wonders shall never end! "

Nicklaus tensed at this clenching his hands into a fist as his face hardened.
Elijah moved to stand in front of him shielding him from the taunting eyes of their sorry excuse of a mother.

"Don't you dare ..." Elijah snarled

"Or else what ? What will you do ?" She fired back .

They fell into a staring contest none willing to back down before Angelica spoke with a big fake smile
"Mrs Mikaelson, what a pleasant surprise to finally meet you!"

"I wouldn't say the same thing about me, " she said in a bored tone

"How may I help you?" Angelica continued

Mrs Mikaelson looked at the young girl and resisted the urge to beat her until her face became unrecognizable.
"The question should be, how may I help you?"

Trey looked at them during the exchange and realized that something was definitely up .
The woman wasn't giving any relevant answers, only firing questions instead .

Just as he thought of walking up to her and forcing words out of her mouth, his scent hit his nose causing him to freeze.
No! How could they have rushed outside right into the enemy's trap without thinking about it.

"Time for me to leave, "
And before he could stop her, she had disappeared same way she came.

Trey beckoned the others
"My father is inside the perimeter walls. "

The shock present on each of them was a sight to behold .one

"How?" They asked

"Your mother's presence was meant to distract you so that his entrance would go unnoticed but I caught his scent and I'm sure he's in."Trey explained

"Fuck ! I knew that face she had on spelt trouble but I didn't think much about it. Let's go in before your father does some harm." Elijah said

Angelica held Nicklaus by the arm
"Are you okay? I heard the exchange ."

Nicklaus avoided her gaze and left to catch up with his brother  without giving an answer.

"Are you okay?" Elijah asked

"I'm fine," he mumbled incoherently

"Was that hard to answer ?" Elijah continued

"What?"

"Was it hard to answer that you are fine ?"

"No , but I just answered you right now didn't I?" Nicklaus said

"But you didn't answer her!" Elijah stated as a matter of factly.

"And how is that your business brother ?" He growled such that they had stand to finish up the conversation .

"It's not my business but you need to realize that she didn't ask for any of this. You knew she would have two mates and you promised to fight for her but that is not what am seeing you do !"

"You're not in my shoes that's why you can't understand me. Everyone always chooses the other one when it comes to me. You almost also chose the other one over me or should we go down the memory lane brother?" Nicklaus snapped

"Klaus, I know you have been through a lot and I understand your insecurities but you're letting your past destroy a future you can build so strong with her. Fight for her, show her that you are worth keeping and in the end she will choose you. But if you keep on this attitude of yours then she'll just have to choose the other mate and you'll prove once again that when it comes to you they choose the other one !!"

By the time he was through with the whole speech, his eyes were full of sympathy for his brother.
"Open up to her please Klaus, don't push her away. Just give her a chance for my sake please. I want to see you happy again ."
He finished patting his back before heading inside .

He stayed outside long after everyone was inside pondering over his brother's words and even though he didn't want to accept it, he was right  he was always right.

Finally he decided to also head inside.

Angelica wiped the drops falling from her eyes before walking inside to search for her father but not before promising to break the walls built by her beloved.

When Trey opened the office door, his father was swinging in the chair eyeing them with malice .
"Well well well, look what we got here!"

"I'm going to kill you for hurting my mother !" Angelica snapped .

The rogue Alpha only smirked before saying
"Ever gone to war unprepared amdear daughter ? Or should I say Angelica Reed ? Since you came here do you know how your Reed parents are doing? If course the answer is no but I know how they are doing ."
To which he laughed so loudly to spite her.
Her face held horror as she remembered she hadn't thought he would get to them.
"I don't believe you, you're just trying to make me freak out ," Angelica said hoping it was true

The rogue Alpha stood up and dialed a number . It rang two times on the other side before a rough voice came through .
"Alpha, I've done the task you assigned to me!"

"Good! Tell them their daughter wants to speak to them"

There was a shuffle on the other side before her voice came first followed by his.
"Angie darling please save us!"
