CHAPTER EIGHT

This is the part where you would expect her to be caught but no, nobody came.

Angelica looked surprised. The woman though dirty had the same dark ebony hair like hers.

"W.h.o. are y.o.u?" She stammered

"Even after calling you Selene , you can't identify who I am. Such a pity that I had to wait this long chained up just to meet you and you don't recognize me."

"Are you my birth mother?"

"Yes. You have very limited time and I can smell your raw powers that are almost showing themselves . You need to know how to control them or they will control you and that won't end up good for people like us who depend on you for freedom."

"How am I to know how to control a power I have zero knowledge about?"

"That is part of the tests you need to pass. So far you've passed the others and now it remains this one and it's entirely on you."

She nodded her head but could not find the true meaning to her words.

"They are almost here, you need to go now!"

Angelica ran out of the barrier quickly rushing to her tiny room and pretended to sleep just as the dungeon door was yanked open and a furious Alpha stormed in.

He growled loudly awakening all the other prisoners .
"Some of my most powerful witches tell me that the chosen alpha is in these dungeons! I will give you a less painful death if you just come forward but if you don't then you'll have to watch me behead the others one after the other until you're also beheaded with or without my consent."

Most of the prisoners were not affected by the loud talk and Angelica concluded that they were also Alpha's before being captured.

The rogue Alpha waited for a few minutes before growling louder than the other time if it was even possible and everyone went on their knees willingly except Angelica and while thinking that it was what others do, she went down on her own knees without being forced so that the Alpha wouldn't identify her as odd.

"I will be back to carry out my execution if your stupid chosen one doesn't give his life for yours. That's why he is the chosen one anyway , so that he can give his life for yours." He laughed loudly at this and turned to them and scoffed

"Funny how you believe in him!" And with that he exited with a bang.

"I think we should go back home Angel," Angelica said giving up

"I wish it was that easy. These are my people Angie, this is my home our home where we belong with our own species. You have a mission to fulfill remember ."

"How am I supposed to fulfill a mission I know nothing about ? Tell me how do I get to control those stupid powers that woman who birthed me said huh? God! I don't even know how to fight!"

"Shut the hell up and find a way. You're so ungrateful that it hurts. You think it was easy for her to leave you behind , and do you think it was easy to stay chained to a wall for thirteen years just because she gave birth to you and still she did not give up your identity but with just a look at her and you are already calling her 'a woman who gave birth to me'. I wish we could be different people so that I could let you go and be happy with your happy parents while I stayed with the woman who gave birth to us."

Angel closed the mindlink furious with Angelica. She felt like she could just let her do things her own way until the rogue Alpha taught her a lifetime lesson but their people needed them most.

Angelica cried herself to sleep again . It was like that would be her routine for some time. She wondered what would happen if her birth mother heard her speak about her like that. Maybe her reasons were stronger than she thought , Maybe she was worth a try, Maybe her destiny dictated that she pass through all of this or Maybe just maybe her perseverance was being tasted. And that night she also came to another conclusion .

When everyone else was still asleep, she woke up shifted to Angel and ran around the perimeter walls ten times .

She increased the number of times she ran around the perimeter daily until it was sixty. She would sneak on the pack warriors while they were training and picked few fighting tricks that she would practice every night in her room.

Her body became flexible and she could respond to stimuli very easily without breaking a sweat. She would visit her mother whenever the pack was on a run led by the Alpha whose name she learnt was Travis Watson.
And each time her mother's health seemed to deteriorate day by day.

This only made her work on her skills without being noticed by anyone but then again nothing stays hidden for long .

Angelica was always focused she forgot to look out for any wolf nearby. Completely unaware of the person who was always watching her each and every move
