Tyron's feet ate up the ground with fast and precise strides. He was furious – who did Faye think she was? After all he'd done for her, yet she couldn't put her selfishness aside for one night.
So, she wanted him to leave her alone? That's just what he would do.
Without him, Faye would have been caught long ago, heck, she probably would have been killed too.
A human was the last thing Ty had needed in his already screwed up life.
He'd been hap- no, not happy, but contented, with his life before Faye. He worked with his best friend, owned his own apartment, did what he wanted when he wanted and had just the right amount of female attention, sure, some of it wasn't always wanted, as it was in Lita's case, but he had fun.
Why had the gods decided the throw Faye at him? Why her? Or the better question was – why him? Surely there was some other man in Siofra better suited to her. He'd need the patience of a saint to start with.
He didn't feel the gentle slap of drops against his face when it began to rain and Ty still hadn't noticed when it became heavier, causing puddles to form at his feet. His anger was driving him forward, to where he wasn't entirely sure. He could just about make out the winding pathway in front of him, between the weather and the natural darkness of the wood it was hard to make out, even with his eyes.
There could never be a future with Faye, no matter how much he wished otherwise.
He paused on that thought. Did he wish otherwise?
Faye was warmth and laughter; she made his chest ache and his stomach flip without even trying. She wasn't like anyone he'd ever met before; her unique beauty was earth shaking, her smile bright enough to light the sky above them, her eyes shone greater than any star in the heavens and her skin was so soft Tyron would happily touch her day and night if she let him.
He inhaled deeply and dropped his head back; the cool droplets were a welcoming sensation.
Faye had a life on earth, with family and friends, who would he be to ask her to give that all up for him? And then, what kind of life would they live in Siofra – always running and hiding? No, he couldn't and wouldn't let her give anything up for that. It would be better for her to go home and meet a human male, one that could give her a life full of love and security, one that could marry her and give her children.
Children that wouldn't be hunted and shunned because they were different.
Had there even been a hybrid born of an elf and human pairing? Tyron knew the answer the moment the question echoed in his mind.
No. There had never been an elf and human pairing before, it was unheard of, and most definitely not bad news.
Ty sighed as realisation slowing dawned on him.
He did want Faye, in everyway possible. The very idea of any other man, elf or not, putting his hands on her made him want to punch something, hard. The feelings stirring in his stomach weren't all controlled by the fact that she was his life mate; oh, how he wished it was, at least then it would make sense.
"Faye...," He groaned aloud, squeezing his eyes shut tightly. Why did she have to have such an effect on him?
Ty stopped and he was about to turn around and walk back to the camp, when he suddenly caught sight of something in front of him.
A large, iron door way blocked the pathway just down from him, an old and forgotten language carved around the archway, warning off unwanted guests.
Fin Falls.
Tyron breathed out a long breath as his gaze floated along the tall wall leading skyward. He could feel the presence of the souls locked inside, even through the door.
His gut churned; something told him this wasn't the best idea in the world.
What was he leading Faye and Moira into?
