Once the wave of nausea had passed, Tyron managed to get back onto his feet, stumbling a few times before he found solid ground. He was only half registering what it was Faye was telling him as they started off for Luna's cottage, Maverick at his side and adding a comment every now and then.

Almost getting killed by fairies had taken more out of him than he'd first thought it had.

"You're being awfully quiet there, Thorn," Maverick's voice cut into his foggy brain. "Still shaken up from your fairy encounter?"

They passed by a group of young females, their giggles ringing through Ty's head painfully. "I'm not used to being held up by my ankles and dropped from a great height, that's all."

"And caught by four great big muscled city guards? That landing couldn't have been comfortable."

Ty shot the elf a grimace, "No, it wasn't."

"I'm sorry, Ty..."

The small, apologetic voice had all traces of anger quickly leave his expression as Tyron turned to look at Faye. She was sat on his right shoulder, her head bowed low like it often was. "Why do you keep saying that?" He asked, blowing lightly at her to get her to look up. "It's not like you made them do any of that stuff. You can't help being what you are right now, Faye."

"But they did that to you because of me, Ty. If you'd just handed me over, they would have left you alone."

"Yea," He smirked, genuinely humoured by the thought of giving her to the fairy queen. "Like that was going to happen."

Maverick shrugged, "Who knows, maybe you would have liked it with the killer bugs and- Oh crap! That woman!" Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks. "Your fiancé, Thorn! We left her in the apartment. What if they broke in and-"

"Like they'd take Lita," Ty sighed, rolling his eyes and continuing to walk on. "No way would I get that lucky."

"For a guy who's meant to be marrying her you're not very-"

"I can't believe you never told me you were engaged, Tyron."

Faye's stern tone made Maverick trail off, his lips slamming tightly shut. This was one subject he didn't want to get dragged into.

Tyron cocked one dark brow at her, "I'm not...well...not technically anyway."

She folded her arms, "That doesn't even make sense."

Pausing for a second, Tyron tried to think of the best way to explain it to her. Telling her the whole story was too long and too complicated for their time and place, so he'd have to cut it down as much as possible. "We're promised to each other."

A deathly silence filled the air around them, at least until Maverick coughed uncomfortably.

"Promised?" Faye finally asked, her blue eyes wide. "Explain."

It was the one thing he didn't want to do. Explaining things only confused the situation more and by the look on his fairies face, explaining would do a lot more than confuse her. He wasn't a hundred percent sure why he continued to feel the need to shield Faye from hurt and further pain, his protective instincts had never reared their heads before she'd come along, not even for his Malanai...

She had one hell of an effect on him, even if he didn't want to admit to it.

Sighing, Ty rubbed at the back of his neck, something he was doing way too often lately, and looked down at her. "Promised, as in... if we're both single by the time we reach a certain age, then we marry each other. It's not very romantic. In fact, it's down right depressing. I think that's why Lita insists on thinking we're life mates...it makes the whole situation that much lighter," Tyron looked away. "We have so much to offer each others blood lines. We both have noble roots, even if hers are more obvious than mine, and our families are the holders of two rare abilities. They'd be guaranteed to be passed down to any children we might have."

As he spoke the words, his stomach flipped awkwardly. Talking about his future sounded like he was talking about his next chore.

It was Maverick that spoke next, "Abilities? As in...?"

"Lita's mother could see the spirits of those past, and before she died she did a lot of work for Artemis. She could find things out that no one else knew, all because the ghosts of the past would tell her."

"And you?" He prompted.

He paused, unsure of whether or not divulging that information was a good idea. Only people in his family knew of the secret.

Raising his face to the sky, Tyron shrugged, "Nothing special, really. It's not half as cool as seeing dead people."
