Jonghyun: One day in mid-July of 2013 he comes over and starts crying and yelling about some guy that had bullied Irene during school. I knew he wasn't fully upset over that so I asked, "It's not just about that bully is it?" He responded by plopping down on my bed and curling up. It was heartbreaking to see.

MC: What was he upset over?

Jonghyun: I don't know he never told me.

MC: Can you talk about your childhood?

Sammy: Uh... yeah. As you know I was born January 4th, 1997. I was not a premature baby. I was 39 weeks. Mom mentioned how terrible it was going to school while having me. Since she had a lot of credits from doing more classes in her early high school years she was able to graduate the year she had me. She immediately went to get a job at the gas station. We all know I'm talking about SHEETZ. I do remember the face of her old history teacher. I think I was five? Even now I still talk to him. He's really sweet and his kids are absolutely sweethearts.

MC: Would you mind sharing?

Sammy: Mr. Ruth was her teacher. He's about 76 now. Yeah 76. So his grandkids would be around my age. His kids are the ones that took care of me when mom was at work, and their kids became my friends. Mom is forever grateful to him and his family.

MC: Do you still call him Mr.Ruth?

Sammy: Well I've always call him grandpa and mom refers to him as Grandpa Ruth so no I don't. Mom told me he wasn't related to me whenever I was old enough but since he's been a vital part in my childhood I didn't care. Family is who we choose. They became my family. He actually called me the other day because he saw my magazine photo on Twitter! Ha believe that a grandpa uses Twitter! Anyways he was super happy and we talked for a long time. He teased me about how fans would be jealousy if I ever had a girlfriend. It was nice hearing him again.

Irene: He's always been open and loving towards everyone. Even if he tries to hide himself there is always a part of him that welcomes others warmly.

Ju-Hyun: His childhood was unlike any other. Many people can relate to his childhood though. He gets triggered by adults yelling at their kids in the streets when they're not behaving. He becomes timid and hides himself behind a straight face and fakes a smile when you ask if he's ok. I worry about his mental heath a lot too. Not just when he has bad memories resurface but all the time. He's so fragile mentally. Physically he's perfectly fine. *sigh* He's stubborn so he rarely tells people his problems unless he's forced too.

Sammy: I'll admit I do hide away my emotions from others, and I really struggle showing myself due to trust issues but at the same time I trust too easily.

MC: You must of had a lot of people using you for your kindness.

Sammy: Yes. Irene tried to protect me but I'm a stubborn mule that doesn't see the error in his ways until it's to late. It's one of the reasons why JYP doesn't trust me by myself.

MC: JYP?

Sammy: Yeah... it's a long story that I don't want to tell yet.

MC: Understandable.

Jonghyun: I've actually seen Sammy's home town. I've met a lot of his American friends including the grandfather he always speaks fondly of.
