Chapter 16.

Yuki walked out after the others, about 10 minutes later than them. As she got out into the trees around the DWMA she kept walking hugging her sketch book to her till she got to the others. “Took you long enough.” Blackstar said his arms crossed as he sat down, his legs also crossed. Yuki looked up at him then back down at the ground and she grabbed her sketchbook tighter to her chest.

“What’s wrong Yuki?” Tsubaki asked making Yuki look up once more then she sighed softly and walked over to a tree grabbing it’s branch she swung herself up and put her sketch book in the tree before jumping back down.

“I’m fine.” Yuki said then crossed her arms standing where she was. “What’s happening now?” Yuki asked but then Stein appeared almost out of nowhere and walked up to them.

“We are going to try and connect souls. You are going to need to all be able to work together for this to work.” Professor Stein said crossing his arms. “All Meisters will need to connect souls while they partners are also in their weapon forms.” Professor Stein said making Yuki’s eyes widen and she flinched taking a step back. “Reach out for one another, one at a time the first time.” Professor Stein said backing up. Izaya turned into his Scythe form, Liz and Patty turned into their gun forms, and Tsubaki turned to her Chain Scythe form but Yuki just stood there shocked.

“Yuki.” Soul said, making Yuki flinch and she looked at him before nodding. Soul turned into his Scythe form and Yuki caught him holding him in her hands before closing her eyes tightly. Soul flinched because as she held onto his handle, he could feel she was shaking violently. “Hey, Yuki calm down.” Soul said but Yuki was shaking still almost as if she didn’t hear him. “Yuki!” Soul yelled in his weapon form making Yuki flinch then she looked at his blade. “Calm down.What’s wrong?” Soul asked.

“Yuki, are you ready?” Maka asked in Yuki’s head making her look up and see that Maka and Kid were already connected. Yuki slowly closed her eyes, yeah, she thought, and she could feel Kid’s and Maka’s souls reach for hers. Yuki tightened her eyes shaking once more but as their souls got close all three of the bonds broke and Yuki backed up breathing hard. “What was that?” Maka asked but Yuki only shook her head looking panicked as she looked ahead of her at the ground.

“Connect with B-Blackstar first.” Yuki mumbled making Stein lift an eyebrow while looking at her. Maka nodded and closed her eyes, She connected with Kid first, then they went to connect to Blackstar but their bond broke once more. Maka tried again but the bond broke once again. Maka groaned in annoyance but Yuki was unmoving, Soul constantly trying to get her attention.

“Maka calm down.” Izaya said trying to calm her down but Maka went on to say how Blackstar did it on purpose, making Yuki look at Maka out of the corner of her eyes. Maka’s eyes were covered by shadows but then Maka ran off making Izaya sigh and run his hands threw his hair. Yuki watched Maka go then she dropped Soul, Soul quickly turned into his human form landing on his feet but Yuki jumped back up in the tree grabbing her sketchbook and she quickly started to draw in it breathing a bit hard.

“Yuki.” Soul called up but Blackstar turned away from the others and walked away from them since him and Maka had gotten in a fight, but before he could get away Maka came running back and over towards Blackstar.

“Your so stupid! You did all of that on purpose to make me look bad!” Maka said as Izaya tried to pull her back but Maka stood her ground.

“You coming back made you look stupid. I didn’t do anything.” Blackstar said making Maka flinch in anger.

“You were trying to be overpowering! and I’m stuck with you.” Maka said and Yuki looked down at them knowing Maka had went and talked to Stein.

“You told on me?” Blackstar asked then he laughed. “That’s so like you, you can’t deal with it yourself so you have to tell on me.” Blackstar said making Maka angry and her hands turned into fists. Maka pulled her hand back but before she could punch Yuki was right in the way and caught Maka’s fist with her hand, her sleeves sliding down and she started sliding back slightly. Behind them Yuki’s sketchbook then hit the ground, showing that she had gotten down there faster than her sketchbook. Maka’s eyes widened after a second seeing Yuki’s bandages on her hands and blood slowly drip off her hand and onto her own arm. Maka pulled her fist back and Yuki looked at her bandages and saw the cut on her hands started to bleed.

“Yuki.” Maka started but Yuki looked at Maka then Blackstar and she shook her head with an angry sigh.

“He wasn’t the only one that messed up. I did too damn it.” Yuki said crossing her arms. “So if you are going to be mad at someone be mad at me.” Yuki said standing between them her hand hurting slightly so she hid it under her other arm. Maka’s hair covered her eyes.

“I hate you both!” Maka yelled then she ran off angrily. Yuki watched Maka go then she looked at her hand for a second. Blackstar turned and walked the other way, Tsubaki chasing after him but Yuki sighed and sat on the ground where she was looking at her hand.

“You okay?” Soul asked but Yuki only nodded then looked up at Izaya. Izaya looked down at her then he nodded and he walked after Maka with a sigh. Yuki looked back down at her hand.

“Why aren’t you able to connect souls?” Kid asked also getting down by Yuki. Patty was laughing now and Liz was trying to calm her down. Yuki looked down at her hands then she softly sighed crossing her legs.

“I’m scared too. I could over take souls.” Yuki said making Kid confused but Yuki closed her eyes tightly. “My soul is huge, and I hold it back.” Yuki said making Soul sigh sitting next to her still. Kid looked at Yuki confused for a second but Yuki shook her head.

“It’s not Lord Death big but it’s pretty big…” Yuki said closing her eyes tightly but then Kid sighed closing his eyes.

“Can we try?” Kid asked over to her, Liz and Patty turned into their gun forms. Yuki slowly got to her feet and she grabbed Soul’s hand, Soul turned into a scythe and Yuki held him as Kid went to connect Souls with her, Yuki tightly closed her eyes and Kid’s soul got close to hers but it didn’t bounce off this time and they connected Souls. “Not so hard.” Kid said but then they disconnected and Yuki dropped Soul, falling to her knees.

“You tell me.” Yuki mumbled then closed her eyes tightly and sighed, Soul turned into his human form crouched by her. Soul put his hand on her shoulder worriedly but Yuki lifted up her hand and looked seeing it was bleeding once again since she had caught Maka’s fist. “It’s bleeding again.” Yuki mumbled but Stein walked back over to them.

“So they didn’t get along? What happened to you?” Stein asked walking over to Yuki and Soul then he got down next to Yuki, Kid standing still and looking down at her. He let Liz and Patty turn to normal.

“Izaya got her the other day!” Patty said putting her hands up in the air but Liz sighed at her sister. “What? It’s true.” Patty added but Stein just pulled some bandages out of his pocket and he started to rewrap her hands.

“This is going to take forever to heal with you grabbing onto Soul’s handle. Either you take a break for a few days or you can mess up your hands permanently.” Stein said but Yuki looked at him shocked. “They are deep wounds and it’s right on the nerve. If you don’t let it heal then you could mess up your hands permanently.” Stein repeated but Yuki shook her head as he looked at her hand that hadn’t started to bleed.

“I won’t take a break if I am needed for this mission.” Yuki said pushing herself up, Soul looked at her wide eyed about to say something but Yuki turned away and walked over to her sketchbook picking it up off the ground but she softly sighed seeing a few papers were crumpled and she headed towards the school. “Call me when you need me. I’m going to go to the bathroom.” Yuki said walking away.
