Chapter 22.

Yuki sighed sitting on the couch with her legs curled up to her chest and she was leaning against the armrest, she had stayed home from school today because when she had woke up she had a fever and Soul, Maka, and Blackstar had all instructed her to stay home.

“So are you going to plan the surprise?” Blair asked in her cat form jumping up on Yuki’s lap. Yuki sighed petting her before getting up and slowly walking into the kitchen getting some food out and she started to cut it putting it in a pot. “You okay? Soul told me to check on you because you’ve been acting differently.” Blair said walking in then turning into her human form but Yuki only shook her head.

“I’m fine, don’t worry about me, I don’t need people worrying about me.” Yuki said cutting up the veggies. “I am the one at fault…” Yuki added softly. “Everyone knows that this is happening but Soul, so they all should show up before him.” Yuki said and she started to cook, it was a stew, she grabbed some lettuce and she started to cut it up for a salad but as she was chopping she flinched pulling back.

“You alright?” Blair asked but Yuki moved her finger up to her mouth. “Cut your finger? I guess you never did heal you hands so all the movement in them isn’t back.” Blair said then turned to the knife and she started to cut the lettuce. “I’ll do this, focus on the stew before the others get here.” Blair said making Yuki nod but soon enough the others all showed up.

“Soul should be here in a few moments, he was finishing up with Dr. Medusa.” Maka said with a smile and she brought three chairs in the other room for the three who they didn’t have room for on the couches. Blair disappeared so Yuki nodded a band aid on her finger.

“Are you feeling better now? Blackstar told me about you having a fever.” Tsubaki said with a smile walking over to her and putting her hand on Yuki’s head. “You are kinda warm, anything I can do to help?” Tsubaki asked but Yuki shook her head.

“I finished everything while you guys were at school.” Yuki said then Soul came in, Yuki looked away as they all said surprise.

“This was for you getting better dude.” Izaya said with a smile lightly patting him on the back. Blackstar stood up on the coffee table.

“I’m starving! Let’s eat! Yuki you better be a good cook!” Blackstar said making Tsubaki tell him to be nice but Yuki wasn’t looking at the others she seemed to just be spacing off looking in the other room.

“I’m gonna go change really quick.” Yuki said walking into her room and shutting the door, the others all waited for her before eating and when Yuki walked back out, wearing a jacket and sweats, she flinched seeing they were all waiting. “You could’ve eaten…” Yuki muttered but Maka just patted the chair next to her, next to the couch Soul was on. Yuki reached up putting her hair in a quick ponytail.

“We grabbed you a plate.” Maka said with a smile, “Your hair looks nice like that.” Maka added making Yuki flinch and a slight pink tint came to her face. Soul looked at her but Yuki just nodded a thanks sitting down and everyone started to eat. Soul sighed realizing Yuki hadn’t looked at him once still and it was starting to bother him. After they ate they all started small talk, about the good cooking and the place, but Blair walked in asking if anyone wanted to take a bath with her, naked, with only a towel wrapped around her figure.

“Please not again.” Yuki mumbled bringing her knees up to her chest hiding her face as Blair moved her arms up and her towel fell.

“Is it always like this here?” Kid asked shocked but Soul fell back breaking a plate with his head getting a nosebleed.

“Yeah, anyone want to take a sexy kitten home with you? She’s free.” Soul said but Yuki dropped her knees looking at Soul and she got down on the ground pulling him up making Soul look at her in slight shock since that had been the closest she had gotten to him without him doing it. Yuki hadn’t gotten close to him or even touched him since he had gotten hurt other than when she was worried about him because he was having a nightmare. Soul looked up at her.
