Guilty Conscience

I could feel a pep in my step as I walked to my hero course. I couldn't help but be eager to find out what the next exercise is. I also couldn't wait to see everyone. Being in the nurse's office all day made me a bit stir crazy. It didn't take long at Dorsey for my hate of forced isolation to manifest. I wanted to leave before lunch, but I thought the thin layer of grime and sweat covering my body would create a distracting aroma in the classroom. I took a shower and Midnight brought me some clothes and my costume. Luckily I missed the drill earlier, barely escaping being trampled by the panicked crowd of future heroes, as well as a talking exit sign?

As I open the door Iida is standing tall, declaring his undying support for the class. I lean against the door frame with my arms crossed. God, from the way he's delivering it is as if he's been polishing this speech since birth. Exiting his mother's womb with a tight fist, babbling about leadership. Huh, now that I picture it it doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

"I pledge to carry out of the duties of class rep to the best of my abilities!" He states loudly, his fist laid confidently across his heart.

Aizawa leans his head off the wall, noticing my presence in the doorway.  "Good, you're here. Take a seat and we can move on to the training exercise." He groans as he stands, his bones cracking as he stretches, shrugging his yellow cocoon off of his shoulders.

"Haze! You're okay!" Uraraka runs to me and envelops me in a hug. I freeze a bit, finding the sudden comfort foreign, but I welcome it anyway. She lets go, looking me over. "I mean, you are okay, right? We were worried you might've suffered permanent damage after, you know," Her voice lowers into a whisper. "After Bakugo threw you off a building." I peek around her, spotting the antisocial blonde in his seat, eyes darting towards me and then away at an extreme velocity, but still attentive to the conversation.

I wiggle my body around trying to take the seriousness out of the issue.  "Yeah, good as new." I chuckle moving towards my seat. Shoto leans over to my side.

"Are you doing okay?" He asks.

I nod. "Oh yeah, I'm fine. And just so you know, I totally had you in the end. If I had five more seconds you would've been on your ass crying." I tease.

He gives a small smile. "I doubt that, but I'm glad you're alright."

I narrow my eyes and turn to Bakugo as everyone gets settled in again. He's making a very obvious attempt to avoid eye contact. Could he be discomforted by our little bonding session yesterday? Maybe it's as new to him as it is for me.

"Today's exercise will be a little different." Aizawa starts looking as sleepy as ever. "You'll have three instructors. Me, All Might, and another faculty member will be keeping tabs on you." Everyone murmurs in response. Three seems a bit overkill, but they must be really on edge since the alarm went off.

"Sir, what kind of training is this?" Sero asks.

"Rescue. You'll be dealing with natural disasters, shipwrecks, stuff like that." The class excitement grows.

Rescue? How the hell am I going to rescue anyone? Put them out of their misery by burning them like bacon?

"This special training is at an off campus facility, so we'll be taking a bus to get there. That's all. Start getting ready."

Ashido links arms with me. "Come on ladies! Let's get changed." I grab my stuff as she basically pulls me out of the room with the other girls.

We get to the locker room and I start to change. They are all staring at me.

I smile. "Guys, I'm flattered."

Uraraka scoffs and smiles. "No silly! Tell us what happened yesterday."
