The group has been grilling me for hours, asking the same questions, using Haze as a pawn, who hasn't said a word. She's just been staring at the floor, sitting in the back of the room. "Will you join the League of Villains?" She looks up at me, meeting my eyes for the first time. I can't tell what she's thinking. Has she just been turned off from emotions, overcome with hate? Is she seriously considering it? Has she decided already? I look to her, desperate to know, but she offers nothing.
I sigh, dropping my head. "No." The group groans.
"For crying ou-,"
"We now show a short clip from the UA High School Press Conference." The television shows Mr. Aizawa and sand Vlad King standing with the principal.
"We are here to apologize. A recent incident allowed harm to come to 28 first year heroes. And we staff were ill prepared. We take responsibility for any trauma that was caused by our negligence. It's our duty to train heroes, but also to protect heroes in training." It's strange seeing him on tv. He hates the press.
Shigaraki holds his head back and cackles. "They're so screwed! There's no way the public can trust any of them anymore." He turns to Haze. "Do you see? Do you see that this ridiculous goal of becoming a hero is forever tainted? Not just because of your past, but also the number one school has neglected to protect its students. And when they find out it's your fault, your fault we found the campsite, that's it. They might throw your ass back in a cell!" He crouches next to her. "The choice is clear, Haze."
"I mean, come on." Toga starts. "It's not like the teachers liked you very much anyway. Why else would they fund Hanford?"
"She's right. U.A. is full of nothing but liars and phonies." Magne adds.
Dabi steps in front of her, holding out his hand to help her up. "We're not like that here. Make the choice, doll. You know you want to."
She looks up at all of them as they hover around her. I can hardly see her. She takes Dabi's hand, standing up. She smiles at the group and I can feel my stomach start to turn. Please don't do this. Their faces look pleased, like they just won the big prize. She begins to back away, towards me until she's right next to my chair.
"I appreciate the support and the concern for my...acceptance into the hero industry. If you're right about what happened at Dorsey, then it's true, U.A. is full of liars." She looks to me. I can't tell what's in her eyes. All I see is internal conflict. She sighs and looks back to them "But this group is too." Their smiles drop.
"What do you me-," Kurogiri starts.
"I didn't have my phone with me at camp. I left it at home."
Shigaraki begins to scratch at his neck. "You told me you were sure!" He hisses at Dabi, but Dabi only looks at her, his eyes narrowed, but not with hate, more like intrigue. Shigaraki turns back to her. "Think carefully about where you're standing, Harbinger." A small portal opens as he sticks his hand in, having it appear right next to my head. "Would hate to have to sweep the floors once I'm done with your fri-," She casually fires a blast of flames at it, burning his hand, and bits of his hair as he pulls it out.
"You little shit!" He takes a step forward and she ignites from head to toe.
"Take one step closer and I'll light this place up." She warns as she moves in front of me, the temperature of the room drastically increasing.
"And what? Kill Bakugo?" Kurogiri asks, unconvinced.
I scoff. "Please! I've taken the heat before. Unlike you losers, I'm not a weakling!" I laugh.
