BAKUGO'S POV

I didn't even notice they had finished. I was so enamored by her, everything else just blurred. Once it was over, they dressed her in a gown and put her in a room. She fell asleep almost immediately, as if she was trying so hard to stay awake to keep us all safe.

The four of us sat in her room waiting for her to recover. While I didn't enjoy the company, I knew she'd be grateful they were here and I knew they had a lot to say to her. A throat clears, waking us all from our half asleep state.

"Mr. Aizawa." Deku calls out. He stands in the doorway, looking at her. I've never seen him so alert and yet so tired. He looks as if he hasn't slept. He doesn't say a thing. He walks to her bedside and stands next to me.

"She seems to get more and more visitors every time. The Chief explained the situation. You can all go home now." He says bluntly.

I am about to tell him to piss off when Iida speaks up. "With all due respect, Mr. Aizawa, none of us plan to leave until she is able to."

He gives us a half smile. "Is that so?" He asks looking to all of us. We nod in response. He sighs and leans against the wall watching her.

"I don't understand how you could talk to that dog without wanting to tear him a new one." I mention. It's obvious he cares about her and I doubt he would've agreed to sending her back.

"Now that I think about it, Mr. Aizawa, why didn't they just call you to block Haze's quirk so they could perform the surgery?" Deku asks, scratching his head

He nods. "You're right to be confused. And what I'm about to say does not leave the four of us. Understand?" He asks. We all nod. "While she's made great progress since she got here, there are many higher ups who don't care and would've preferred she stay at Dorsey. "

"But I don't understand? How can they knowingly want to send a student to a torture chamber?" Todoroki asks.

"Because of what she did. Despite the circumstance surrounding that incident, there are some who would prefer her in the hands of her previous 'caretakers' than having her in the same building as young students again. Which is why they delayed telling me, UA, and even deceived Gran Torino about their plans."

"So point me in their direction." I spit. "They were willing to let her die or be tortured so they could save their own damned reputations. They don't know shit about her!"

"I agree." He responds. "Which is why I'm choosing to check her out as soon as tomorrow morning."

"Tomorrow?" Deku sounds so surprised.

"Yes, Recovery Girl has offered to finish her healing process. She should be good to go after that. We'd rather have her heal on school property than in a hospital with her least favorite fans." His eyes narrow. "You are never to tell her." He warns.

"Of course." Todoroki adds. "It wouldn't do her any good to know that." He's right. I'm sure she already knows that some people don't trust her, but to know that they wanted to kill her is a different story.

"You should've seen her." Deku smiles. "I didn't even know she was in Hosu until I saw her take down a Nomu on her own. It was incredible. She was all cut up, but she didn't even waver." I look at her and smile. Of course she didn't.

"I expect nothing less." Aizawa smiles slightly. "With the right guidance and support, she can thrive endlessly." He eyes me. "Which is why certain people need to keep their temper in line." He warns.

"Tch." I scoff. "It's not like I'm the only one who's gotten under her skin." I say crossing my arms

Todoroki chuckles. "You're right. You're just the one with the highest score."
