When lunch came around I decided not to sit with Bakugo. I figured he's had enough of me for today. While he was walking me to class after I changed back into my uniform he didn't make eye contact with me at all and he hardly said a word. I took that as a sign that he had had his fill.
I try to look for Shoto, but there's so many people I wouldn't know where to start looking.
I sit down with my food at an empty table.
"Hey Hazaeza-, whoops! I mean Haze." I recognize that frantic voice. I look up and see Izuku, Iida and Uraraka. "Mind if we join you?"
I smile, welcoming the company. "Yeah of course!"
They sit down
"So, how are you doing? It must be difficult being the new kid and all." Uraraka asks.
I lift my shoulders "It's not so bad. I guess in a way I've always felt like the new kid, but everyone here has been treating me pretty well."
"Through various sources that I shall name at your request, we heard you got your costume today." Iida starts.
I finish chewing and nod. "I did. It's a previous student's costume that they modified for me."
"That's good to hear. We haven't gotten ours yet, but if you got yours then ours won't be far behind!" Iida exclaims.
Uraraka is bouncing in her seat. "Do you have it? Oh my gosh I can't wait to see!"
I gesture to the briefcase on the ground. "Midnight's having me hang onto it so I can practice with Todoroki and not have all of my clothes burn away."
Izuku's face goes red. "Right, you'd be na, nake," He can't even finish.
"Can we see? Oh, pretty, pretty please!" She's almost leaping. I suppose I can show it. It won't have the same effect without someone in it. I open the case and pull it out by the shoulders, letting the shiny material rest on the table
Her jaw drops. Iida and Izuku feel the material, not noticing the gaping hole in the torso area.
"Interesting. I assume this a flame retardant material. Very impressive." Iida says.
"And not very easy to acquire. Now I know why they had to use another student's costume. Stuff like this means you should be able to reach high temperatures with no wear or tear." Izuku mutters, slowly pulling out his notebook and writing furiously.
She looks at them and back at the costume as if they were blind. "I swear boys are clueless." They look at her confused and I put it away.
"You're going to be a showstopper in that." She smiles.
I smile slightly. "Yeah, it may take some getting used to. Even Bakugo couldn't find the right words-,"
"Bakugo?" They ask one unison like some cheesy sitcom.
I nod, taking another bite. "Yeah, he was there when I got it this morning."
"I didn't know you two were friends, you know after the other day." Izuku says quietly, tapping his fingertips together.
I scratch at my hair. "Yeah, perhaps it wasn't the most ideal initial interaction, but we reconciled. I'm not sure he would admit to being my friend, but we'll get there." I find myself hoping for that day.
"So when he saw you in it, was his face like this?" She makes a drooling smiling face. "Or like this?" Her eyes go wide and her mouth hangs open.
I laugh. "More of the second one I think. Now that I think about it he did look pretty funny."
