I didn't mean to breakdown in front of him. I was planning on telling him I wasn't upset with him when I saw him sitting with Bakugo. I couldn't bring myself to to go over there. I felt a pain in my chest and I had to leave. When he approached me I didn't want to push him away, I knew I could talk to him and he wouldn't judge me. Once we got into that class, I just couldn't help but let it out. And as soon as I did, he was right there. He talked me through it, even though Katsuki is his friend. I became so vulnerable, but I felt comfortable. He made me feel safe.
I took a deep breath as I stopped at the outside of the hero course room. I'm going to have to sit next to him. He might speak up or make some snide comment, but I'm going to need to keep it together. He can say what he wants, but I have to remember that he is just a classmate.
I walk in and sit at my desk. He isn't here yet. That's not normal. He may portray himself as a bad boy, but he's a good student. He's always early, but he isn't my problem.
Aizawa enters as tired as ever. "Afternoon, I expect you all didn't slack off on your training during your break."
You can feel people shift uncomfortably. I'm sure most of them took full advantage of their days off and relaxed after the stresses of the Sports Festival.
The door opens and he's there standing in the doorway.
"Nice of you to join us, Bakugo." Aizawa says sarcastically.
"Sorry." He replies lowly. He sits at his desk and faces forward. His eyes are tired and sad. But again, I have to remove myself.
"Just to remind you all before I show you the scouting results, being scouted should not motivate you to slack off. Scouts can rescind their offer whenever they want."
"So if anything, we have to work harder to prove ourselves." Hagakure mentions.
"Correct. Now here are the totals for those of you got offers." He says as the screen displays our names.
"I thought you said you only got one offer from my father." Todoroki leans over to me. I'm in shock, because that was my impression as well.
As my name sits fourth on the list offers, I can't help but be confused. 347? At the Sports Festival, Death Arms said no one was scouting for me because of Endeavor.
Aizawa must have seen my confusion and approaches my desk.
"Why didn't you tell me I had other offers?" I ask quietly.
"The school had already let most agencies know that Endeavor would be taking you on for your internship, but that doesn't stop them from offering you a position for after you graduate."
"So, even after they were told she would not be interning with anyone else, they still wanted her?" Shoto asks.
"Exactly. While her amount is much lower than yours or Bakugo's, it is still a good start. Most of the agencies who put up offers were ones who wanted you originally before you came to UA. As you continue to advance in your training, that number will grow when these agencies see that you can be trusted."
He's right. To have this amount is nothing short of a miracle, but that still means I need to push harder to gain complete control so more agencies can see that I'm legit.
He walks back to the front as everyone ponders at their numbers. As I go down the list, it isn't surprising how many Todoroki and Bakugo obtained, but the gap between them and the others is insane. They lead the pack by thousands.
"That's amazing." Yaoyorozu says to Shoto. "You must be proud."
"Tch," he scoffs. "Most of those are probably just because of my father."
