10 am.
As y/n is still sleeping, I finally see the cake for her birthday being done with the baking, all the decorations filling the kitchen, living room, and backyard. I take the chocolate cake out of the oven and put it down on the kitchen counter.
I'm a bit stressed out about today, her parents are going to be here, Mino as well but more of her family like her uncle and her woman. I'm not used to seeing so many people in my house but I wanted to make this day very special for my baby so I told her to invite the ones she wants to see. However, her stepbrother won't be here and that's a relief. She talked about everything to her but they were not mad at her for lying and hiding it so that was good to hear.
From what she told me, he apologized for those things and claimed he never meant to hurt her or else so since they're not related, the parents tried to u understand his feelings but now there's still on bad terms because of it. Sometimes I feel a bit bad for causing such a problem in their family but when I think about the way he played with y/n to try to get what he wanted, I don't regret anymore.
"Kook," my mom startles me when I was quietly taking care of the cake shaped in a heart. "Mom! My heart dammit!" I sigh but see her laying a big black box with a red bow around it on the kitchen island. "Sorry. Here is the box full of roses."
"Are there the thirty-eight red roses in it?" I ask to make sure the roses are all there. "Yes, there are. Now I have to go and grab the other boxes."
"Wait," I stop her before she could leave this room and she turns around. "Have you picked up all the things I put on the list?"
"Yes, there are the roses, the special one made of crystal in the glass dome with the base of it made of pure gold and the little lights inside that surround the rose..." she enunciated everything while counting with her fingers to reassure me. "There is also the giant teddy bear, white and fluffy with a red bow around his neck. The promise ring with 'I love you' engraved in it for her and 'y/n' engraved on yours. The lingerie you don't want me to see. The box containing the earrings, watch, and necklace. Then...finally...the magic lightbox with written 'I love you baby' on it and all the little hearts..." she breathes out.
"Perfect," I nod but go back to my cake. "Don't you think it's a bit too much...?" she asks the question I knew would come to my face but I shake my head. "No. I want to pamper her."
"Yes but...some girls don't like to be..." she doesn't say the last words as if she was thinking. "I mean, that's not pampering anymore at this point, that's literally spoiling. Some girls don't like it and I know you often buy a lot of gifts for her even when there's no special occasion."
"I have the money to buy all the things I want to buy for her, so I do it. Period," I don't argue on this since I just wanted to pick all the things that could make her happy. I don't want to think whether it's too much or not, I love her, I pamper her. On top of that, she's going to be pampered with way more stuff tonight. "If you say so," she understands my point of view but walks away.
I focus on the chocolate cake and let it cool down for a moment. I put it in the fridge and head back to the snacks that are still cooking in the oven. I woke up at seven this morning and haven't stopped working in the kitchen since then. I just want to make sure she won't forget her eighteenth birthday, her first one with me, or maybe second or third, we don't know what happened when we were still little kids.
