After what happened at the school I got grounded for lying, and our dad is now driving us both to school since he doesn't want us to be out of his sight.

Kill me.

We pulled up to the high school and when Allison tried to get out she couldn't because the door was still locked.

She groaned. "Dad, if you're going to insist on driving me to school, you at least have to let me out of the car." She looked at him.

Dad then took his sweet time, looking around and seeing the aftermath of that night, which was probably going to influence his decision right now.

"Kate, what's your opinion on homeschooling?" Dad asked her and my eyes widened.

"Hmm... Well, you know, I'm more of a learning-by-doing kind of girl." She answered and we looked at them both in disbelief.

"What's your opinion on overprotective dads who keep ruining their daughters' lives?" Allison asked her. Aunt Kate looked at her before leaning over and unlocking the car door, making me giggle. Dad looked at his sister in betrayal, and she just smiled at him.

"Thank you." Allison smiled.

"You're welcome." She replied.

"Love you, Casey! Have fun at school." She told me, getting out of the car.

"You too, Allicat! Tell Lydia I said hi, and that Jackson is a huge-" she slammed the door shut before I could even finish my sentence. "Well that was rude." I sat back in my seat, crossing my arms.

"So, Chris..." Aunt Kate started, but Dad cut her off.

"Don't. Just... Your look communicates it perfectly." He looked out the window, and I was so confused. "Yes, I underestimated the danger. Yes, we should've acted sooner. Yes, I should've listened to you. Anything else? Or does that cover it?" He asked her.

"Um, Daddy, I think she was just going to say that the car needs gas." I pointed to the gas tank, chuckling when I saw the look on his face and Aunt Kate looked pretty happy with herself. "Also, I'm gonna be late, so can we get going please?"

Dad just shook his head and drove away from the school to drop me off.

"So, how bad is it?" Jocelyn asked me as we walked to class.

"Bad. They grounded me for two more weeks, no technology, no tv, no friends, no phone, and I have to be in bed by nine." I told her the damage.

"Oh, that's bad." She winced. "My parents didn't ground us. They were just happy that we were okay. But they did take away my phone for a week because we lied to your parents."

"At least you feel a bit of my pain." I joked. "Anyway, you never told me that Firass was a lightning elemental." I whispered.

"He doesn't like it when people know. Rightfully, he's the next leader of the clan, but his element isn't fire. Some people in my clan don't want him because of it." She said as we walked into class and took our seats.

"Well, that's not fair. Your brother would be a good leader." I said.

"I know, but the thing is, they want you." I froze when she said that.

"P-Pardon?"

"Well, they didn't exactly say you, but still, they want you to be their leader."

"Why me? I'm only fourteen!"

"Because," she leaned closer. "Because you're the silver-eyed elemental. You're the most powerful and a natural-born leader."

"So? Being leader is Firass's birthright, and I won't take that away from him. It shouldn't matter what element he has, but what's in his heart. The type of person he is. And you can even tell them that." I said, and she smiled.
