"Casey, if you don't get your ass back to bed I will take away your camera!" My dad yelled at me from the bottom of the stairs when he heard my door open.

"But Dad-"

Dad went towards the steps and looked at me. "No. You were shot, Casey. You should be resting."

"It was two days ago!" I said, and he shook his head.

"I don't care. Now go." He said, and I groaned in annoyance. "And take Hartley with you. We don't need your grandpa shooting him."

Upon hearing his name, I heard a bark and Hartley came running up to my dad, pawing at his pants.

"Hey, boy." Dad leaned down and pet him, making him yip happily.

At first Dad wasn't happy when he found about Hartley, but over the past two days he's gotten used to him, and I find him playing with him. He even takes him on walks for me since I can't.

"Hartley! Come here, baby." I call for my dog, and backs away from my dad before running up the stairs, and he looked so cute. "Hi, puppy." I picked him, and he licked my face, making me giggle.

I take him in my room with me, shutting my door. Feeling a breeze behind me, I turn around and jump when I see Derek sitting on my bed.

"You scared me!" I whisper yelled at him. I put Hartley down on my bed, and he went to Derek, snuggling up to him in his lap. Derek looked down at him and pet him, which honestly surprised me. I thought he was going to make him leave.

"Look, I need to tell you something." He said, and I sat down on my bed, waiting for him to start.

"Your mom wasn't suicidal. She didn't have depression, I would have smelt it. I'm the reason she's dead." I froze when he said that. "At the rave, your mom was there. She was pumping wolfsbane into the air and it was killing Scott. I was trying to help him, but I was struggling too. And in the middle of us fighting, I bit her. As you know, a hunters code is that you have to kill yourself before your first full moon. That's why she's dead. Look, Casey, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for being the reason that she's dead, but I was trying to save Scott. And she made that choice. She could have been alive and a werewolf, but she chose to die because of the code. I'm telling you this because I feel guilty, and you've grown on me. You're actually like a little sister to me and I hate that I hurt you like this. You don't have to forgive me, but I just needed for you to hear me out. I'll leave if you want."

Derek moved Hartley and started to get up when I stopped him.

"I forgive you." I said and he looked shocked. "I understand what you did and why you did it, but you're right. It was her choice. Scott wasn't a threat, and she was wrong to try and kill him, just like how you were wrong for biting her. But you were just defending yourself, and I get that. So I forgive you. I don't hate you Derek, you've grown on me too. You're a nice guy under that brooding look you have. Thank you for telling me the truth, I appreciate it, sour wolf."

He chuckled, smiling. "You're welcome, firecracker."

I smiled at the new nickname. "You should smile more often. It looks nice on you." I got up from my bed and wrapped my arms around him. "You're not a bad guy, Derek. Really. You've just been hurt one too many times." I felt him wrap his arms around me and I rested my head on his chest, feeling safe with him.

"How's your wound?" He asked me, pulling away to look at it.

"It's okay, I guess. I can't use my powers to heal it, but I'll be fine." I told him, sitting back down on my bed.

"Does it hurt?" He asked me.

"I'm fine." I told him, even though it did hurt a little. Derek grabbed my hand and I gasped when I saw his veins turning black, my pain slowly being taken from me. He soon let go of me, and I was so shocked.
