When Scott and I entered the Animal Clinic I was surprised to see Derek and Isaac there too because Scott never mentioned them.

Isaac looked over at me and smiled. I blushed a bit, giving him a small one in return, and he started to smirk at my blushing cheeks.

"Hey, Derek." I gave him a sickly sweet smile. I put my hand on his arm and shocked him, making him yelp.

"What the hell was that for?!" He yelled, backing away from me.

I glared at him. "That's for trying to kill Lydia! You're lucky I didn't decide to burn off your eyebrows."

Scott and Isaac chuckled in amusement until Derek gave them a look, shutting them up almost immediately.

"What's he doing here?" Scott finally asked him, motioning to Isaac.

"I need him." Derek responded.

"I don't trust him."

"Yeah, well, he doesn't trust you either." Isaac piped up, and I rolled my eyes.

"Can't the two of you just get along? Scott, he protected me from Jackson, he's not all bad." I said to him, and then I looked at Isaac. "And you, you need to stop acting like a dick to my friends for no reason. Got it? Good."

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Derek smirk, and I ignored him.

"And Derek really doesn't care." He said.

"Please don't talk about yourself in the third person. It's weird." I said, and he rolled his eyes at me.

"Whatever. Now where's the vet? Is he going to help us or not?" He said rudely.

"That depends." We all turned around to see Deaton leaning up against the door frame. "Your friend, Jackson. Are we planning to kill him or save him?"

"Kill him."

"Save him."

Derek and Scott both said at the same time.

Unbelievable.

To save time, I look at Deaton and say, "We're saving him, and that's that."

Deaton smiled at me proudly, and that made me wonder why he was so proud of me. I mean, he barely even knows me.

"Casey," Scott motions me over to follow after them into the back. I watched as Deaton places down a box filled with glass jars on the metal examining table.

Isaac went to reach out for one and I quickly slapped his hand away.

"Are you crazy? This stuff could be dangerous." I scolded him, and he took his hand away, stuffing it into his jacket pocket.

Isaac leans down on the table, looking at Deaton. "So, what are you? Some kind of witch?"

Deaton looks at him and says, "No, I'm a veterinarian."

I stifled a laugh at the look on Isaac's face when he said that, putting my hand over my mouth to cover the smile forming on my face.

"Unfortunately, I don't see anything here that's going to be an effective defense against a paralytic toxin."

"We're open to suggestions." Derek said.

"What about an effective offense?" Isaac suggested, and I agreed with him.

"No, we already tried. I nearly took its head off. And Argent emptied an entire clip into it. The thing just gets back up."

"Has it shown any weaknesses?" Deaton asked us.
