"Casey, he gave you his shirt. He so likes you! And you like him!" Jocelyn said as we chilled in my room, watching movies and eating junk food.

"No, he doesn't. He was just being nice. And no, I don't." I said, shaking my head and shoving some popcorn in my mouth.

"Then why are you wearing his shirt?" I look down and see that she was right.

"Okay, maybe I do like him a little bit. But I can't." I said, and she groaned, falling back into my bed.

"Why not?" She asked.

"Because of my family. They'll kill him, and they already tried once. I don't want him to get killed because of me." I told her, and she nodded, understanding what I meant.

"Okay, I get it. But I feel bad for you. You should be able to like whoever you want without them possibly getting killed by your family." She said, and I agreed with her.

"Tell me all the details!" My sister suddenly said, running in and scaring the hell out of us.

"Allison!" I yelled, breathing heavily.

"Oh, my god, I almost died." Jocelyn held her hand to her heart dramatically.

"Sorry." She laughed. "But tell me everything!" She flopped down on my bed, taking handfuls of popcorn, waiting for me to begin.

"Okay, this does not leave this room." I said, and I began to tell my sister everything. I started from when I saved him from that hunter all the way to what took place last night and how for once he wasn't acting like a dick.

"Casey, it sounds like he really likes you." My sister said after I told her everything.

"I know!" I hid my head in my hands, falling back onto my pillow. "But he can't! And I can't! It won't work! It's not fair!"

"I'm sorry, flower. But the right guy will come around one day, even if it's not Isaac." She told me, running her fingers through my hair.

"M-"

The three of us jumped up, screaming when we heard a tap on my window. We turn and scream again when we see Isaac out on the roof.

"I think I just died!" Jocelyn yelled, and my dad ran into the room.

"You girls okay? I heard screaming." He said, walking over to us.

"Uh, yeah. Yeah, we're fine, Dad. We were just watching a scary movie." I point to my laptop which actually does have a scary movie on it, but it was paused.

"Oh, okay." He chuckled. "Don't scare yourselves too much. Get to bed soon."

The three of us nodded, telling him goodnight and letting out a breath of relief when he left.

I quickly get up from my bed and open the window for Isaac.

"What are you doing here? You could've been caught." I said, and he climbed in through my window, being careful not to make any noise.

"I had to see you. Can we talk?" He asked me, and I turn to look at my sister and my best friend.

"Hey, Jocelyn, do you mind helping me pick out an outfit for tomorrow?" Allison asked her.

"Not at all, Allison. Let's go." The two of them got up from my bed and left my room, closing the door behind them.

"What did you want to talk about?" I asked him.

"Is that my shirt?" He pointed to what I was wearing, which was his shirt and a pair of short shorts.

"It was the first thing I grabbed." I said in defense, and he chuckled at me.

"Sure." He smirked.

"So why are you here?" I asked him again.

"Right. Look, Casey, I really like you. You're an amazing girl who fights for what she believes in even if it means going against your own family. You are the strongest person that I have ever met, and I admire you for that." He stepped closer to me, closing the gap between us. "And you're kind and caring. And that's what I really like about you."

I looked down when he told me this. "Isaac, I-"

"I know. We can't be together because of your family." He said, taking the words right out of my mouth. "But it won't stop my feelings for you."

I grabbed his hand, interlacing our fingers together. "I like you, I do. But I can't. My family tried to kill you once, and they'll surely do it again. I'm trying to protect you."

He raised his free hand and tucked my hair behind my ear. "I know you are. And that's what I like about you."

"Isaac, what did you mean when you said you heard me yesterday?" I asked him, remembering what he said to me when I asked him how he knew that I was in trouble.

"Ever since I met you I can't seem to get you out of my head. It's like I want to protect you. Yesterday I heard this heartbeat that sounded so familiar, and that's when I realized that it was yours. I ran to where you were, running into Scott on the way. I care about you, Casey. That's why I acted the way I did." He explained to me, and I smiled.

"That's really sweet of you Isaac. Really. I just can't be with you. But I'd really like it if we could be friends." I offered, hoping he would say yes.

"I can do that. Um, can I... can I kiss you? Just this once." He said, and I nodded, not trusting my own words.

Isaac leaned down, his lips just brushing mine. I felt his minty breath fan across my lips, my heartbeat skyrocketing. When our lips finally connected so many things were racing through my head. Like for example, I can't believe this is happening!

His hands were cupping my cheeks as he kissed me, my own hands resting on his chest. I felt him smile against my lips, pulling away for air.

"That was just something that I had to do. You are one of a kind, Casey Argent." He told me, and I blushed.

"I like to think that I'm unique, but that works too." I said, and he laughed in amusement. "I'll see you tomorrow, Isaac."

"You too, Casey. Sweet dreams." He said, leaving through the window. I went to it and watched him hop off of my roof, waving to me before running off into the night.

I heard my door open behind me and in cane my sister and Jocelyn.

"Tell us!" They both yelled, forcing me onto my bed and making me spill every single detail.

I'm glad that Isaac and I got to talk, and I'm happy that he understood why we can't be together. I'm excited to be friends with him and getting to know him more.

Looking over at my sister and my best friend, I smiled at them because I'm so glad to have them in my life. I know I'll always have Allison, but I never had a girl best friend before. Especially one who is just like me and understands me. I just hope that I'll always have them both in my life until the day I die.

Who knew how wrong I was.
