Quintin started to go to the hospital every night with his mother. He knew that his father needed both himself and his mother to make it through these long days of being in the hospital with his only contact being from nurses and doctors.
Olivia and Quintin ate dinner outside of Trevor's room, and once he could breathe on his own again, he was able to talk with them instead of writing what he wanted to say.
"So, Quinny is going to be spending this weekend with your parents. So I'm going to come here and annoy you." Olivia smiled.
"I don't want you to bother me... I want you to have fun. Spend time with your friends." Trevor replied hoarsely.
"My friends are those that I work with. Elliot has kids and a family, and we both work more hours than we are off." Olivia sighed.
"Start dating again, Liv." Trevor coughed.
"Why would I start dating again when I'm married to you?" Olivia huffed.
"Because who says if I'll make it out of here alive." Trevor frowned. Olivia sighed before turning around and leaning against the window. She had her arms crossed over her chest as she tried to not get extremely angry with her husband. Trevor had been in the hospital since October, but only for the last few months had he started to give up and it pissed her off.
"Mrs. Langan, I'm glad you are still here." Dr. Young smiled, as he moved towards Olivia.
"Is everything okay? Because this asshole is giving up." Olivia huffed.
"The transplant team will be coming here soon to prep Trevor for his surgery." He grinned.
"What?" Olivia asked with wide eyes.
"Can I know what is happening?!" Trevor spoke as loudly as he could from inside his room. Dr. Young motioned for Olivia to tell him, and Olivia quickly turned around and pressed her shaking finger against the button.
"Baby, you are getting lungs... so please don't give up!" Olivia cried.

A call was made to Quintin's school along with one to Trevor's parents. Then Olivia called the crew because she was going to be waiting for six to twelve hours depending on how much extra tissue they may have to remove. Olivia had just settled down in the surgical waiting room when she saw Elliot and Kathy move towards her. Tally and Matthew were going to pick up Quintin and bring him up to the hospital once he was out of class for the day.
"What are you two doing here? You both are supposed to work today." Olivia spoke, as she stood and quickly hugged Kathy before moving to Elliot.
"We were... but Captain Cragen told me that Trevor was getting lungs today and told me to come and sit with you. I called Kathy and she said she wanted to join me. So here we are." Elliot smiled, as they settled down onto the hard chairs.
"Tally and Matthew are going to be coming up with Quinny after he gets out of school. We will be at about hour six." Olivia spoke.
"How long do you think the surgery will take?" Elliot asked, and Olivia sighed.
"Six to twelve hours. Maybe more since his lungs are so damaged." Olivia spoke.
"Are you hungry? It's going to be lunch soon-"
"Elliot's it's ten in the morning. How are you already hungry?" Kathy groaned.
"Because I worked three hours of my shift already, and I'm starving. So I think that we should all eat an early lunch."

Six hours into the surgery, Quintin, Tally, and Matthew showed up. Quintin ran straight to his mother and hugged her tightly before asking her as many questions as he could before having to stop and catch his breath.
"Quintin, Daddy is going to be just fine. When he gets his new lungs, he won't have to be on oxygen all the time and he should be able to come home and be with us." Olivia smiled, as she sat down and held her son on her lap. She kissed his curls before rubbing his back gently.
"How much longer till he'll be out?" Quintin asked as he looked at his mother.
"It could be soon, or still many more hours," Olivia spoke.
"Where did the lungs come from?" Quintin asked, and Olivia frowned deeply as she looked over at her mother-in-law.
Tally didn't know if she had a proper answer either, so she just shrugged.
"Kid, when you get your driver's license, you can check a box that says when you go to heaven you can give your organs to very sick people," Elliot spoke, as he reached out and ruffled Quintin's brown hair.
"So the person who gave Daddy his new lungs... he's dead?" Quintin asked, and Olivia closed her eyes tightly as Elliot nodded slowly.
"Yeah... but they are happy in heaven now. They are getting taken care of by God." Elliot spoke.
"Do we know who gave them to Daddy?" Quintin asked as he looked at his mother.
"No, honey. We won't know who it is. But we can still be thankful for what they are giving Daddy... now, how much homework do you have?" Olivia asked, and Quintin sighed softly.
"Uh... I probably should work on that then." Quintin sighed.

The hours seemed very long. Eventually, Quintin ate and then fell asleep after playing cards with his Uncle Elliot. Olivia was worried that something really bad was happening to her husband because everything was taking too long.
"It's been fourteen hours," Olivia whispered as she looked at her watch.
"Liv," Kathy spoke.
"What?" Olivia frowned, as she paced back and forth.
"There's a nurse coming towards you," Kathy spoke. Olivia stopped and turned to see a nurse that usually gave the updates.
"Mandi." Olivia smiled.
"Your husband is in the ICU. Dr. Young believes that the transplant was successful. Your husband is going to be sedated for the next few days because of the amount of pain he will be in, but you can see him in the morning." She smiled. Olivia quickly stepped forward and hugged the nurse tightly as tears slipped down her cheeks.
