Oh, it's not her. I close my eyes again, but as soon as I do, her words crash into me like a tsunami.
It's not her.
I jump up and vigorously pull the blinds away, accidentally stomping on Hannah in the process.
Her shriek of pain is barely audible past the loud buzzing in my ear. Damien's outside my window! Damien!
I immediately look around my darkroom, as if afraid someone will see him. Luckily, Hannah and I are the only ones in my room.
I turn back to the window and rub both my eyes with my knuckles. My brain is either tricking me, or I'm dreaming. Or my eyes are punishing me for not wearing my glasses as much as I should.
Damiens got a smile on his face, like a full-blown smile. Dimple popping smile.
Yup, I am definitely dreaming.
"Open the window," he whispers, tapping the glass.
A big goofy smile takes over my entire face. "Hi," I say sweetly, angling my head.
All of a sudden, Hannah slaps my back. "Get off my bloody leg."
My stomach brutally connects with the window cill, causing all the oxygen in my lungs to whoosh out of me in one go. I let out a painful moan in the aftermath.
Okay... that felt very real and very painful. But then again... so do my nightmares.
Clutching my stomach, I look back at Damien and frown at his frown. No smile again. Brain make him smile!
"Stop looking out the fucking window like Rapunzel and go back to sleep," Hannah grumbles behind me.
I will my brain to shut her out.
"Hazel!" She hits my back again.
Brain shut her out and make Damien smile again!
Hannah sits up and gasps. Brain shut her—.
"What the fuck is Damien doing outside your window?"
I glare at her. "I don't understand why you're in my dream, but you're ruining it so can you please go away!"
Hannah briefly startles back a little and then gapes at me as if I've grown two extra heads before bursting into a fit of laughter.
If this wasn't a dream, I would care about her waking my parents, but because this is a dream and Damien is outside my window and is — was smiling I don't care about anything other than seeing it again.
Oh and a laugh! I need dream Damien to laugh too. My favourite sound in the whole entire wide world is his laugh.
"This isn't a fucking dream." She pinches my bare arm. "This is real and Damien is outside your window."
Scowling, I grab my arm and rub the spot she pinched.
'This is real and Damien is outside your window.'
I whip my head back to Damien, mortification slamming down on me. This isn't a dream. Oh! My! God!
Damien is smiling again. The same dimple popping smile as before. Unfortunately, I'm too shocked and horrified to revel in it.
I jerk my gaze back to Hannah. Her face morphs into even more shock than when she first saw Damien outside. I follow her line of sight to... Hayden sitting on the hood of a red BMW.
Understanding dawns, a dark cloud of anger, replacing the shock. I glare at Hayden then Damien. Only to find the latter's gaze on my body. I pull the blinds on his face. Jerk.
