17 - Inaperçu

y/n's POV

I couldn't stop staring at it. I didn't dare get any closer, because I didn't want to see who was inside. I tried to convince myself that it could be empty, but why would Hawkmoth keep a vacant coffin in his basement?

"The others are on their way," Chat informed me. "What are you staring at?"

I couldn't answer. Chat followed gaze, and saw what my eyes were fixed upon. He narrowed his eyes, then started to walk towards the vessel.

"No... no , that's not possible..." he muttered as he got closer. He broke into a run.

"Chat!" somebody called. I turned to see Ladybug, along with the rest of the team. "Get away from there!"

Chat collapsed onto his knees next to the coffin, staring through the glass. "Why wouldn't you tell me?" he muttered. "How could you keep this from your own son?"

"Well, well, well," a new voice said from behind us. "Look what the cat dragged in."

"Hawkmoth!" Queen Bee exclaimed.

"Yeah, no sh*t," Reena mumbled.

Everyone held their breath as an akuma fluttered past us, and made its way to Chat.

"No!" I cried, but I reacted too late to do anything. The purple butterfly entered Chat's ring, and he transformed into a villain.

Carapace pulled me back, but I resisted. I knew he just wanted to protect me, but who was going to protect Chat? I couldn't leave him to Hawkmoth.

"Inaperçu," Hawkmoth named him. "I give you the power to banish people from this world. In return, all I ask for is Ladybug's miraculous, and once you're satisfied, you will hand your miraculous over as well."

"Don't listen to him!!" I screamed. "Fight him, Adr—Chat Noir!"

I wanted to slap myself. In my moment of desperation, I nearly gave away his identity.

"I-I'm sorry," he muttered, then he stood up held his hand out in front of him. A dark sphere appeared at his palm, and then he sent it towards us.

I backed up into the other miraculous holders, and with all of them making some sort of contact with me, I tapped my miraculous three times.

—————Lloyd's POV———-

Everyone seemed pleased that I was wasn't angry with y/n anymore. They all knew the full story now, and they seemed to accept the fact that she has stayed away for five years, so I was willing to forgive her, too.

We all got back on our dragons and prepared to take off into the air again, but then something—someone—came falling out of the sky.

"Oof!" I grunted as I was knocked to the ground.

"Sorry!" the girl mumbled, getting up off of me. "I don't have as much control when I take more than one person over."

"Y/n?"

She clamped a hand over my mouth. "They don't know my name, remember?"

"Uh, they?"

Just then, four more people came crashing down from the sky. They didn't land on anyone, luckily. I recognized them as the people we fought back in Paris.

"Where's Cat Boy?" I asked as y/n helped me up.

"His name is Chat Noir," the ladybug girl corrected. "He's been akumatized."

"I take it that's a bad thing," Nya said.

"Yes, very bad," Ladybug continued. "The akuma's in his miraculous, which means it'll be impossible to release him because the only thing that can destroy a miraculous is Chat's cataclysm!"

Ladybug started hyperventilating, so Y/n went over to calm her down.

"Don't worry," she said. "There's one other way: we take Hawkmoth's miraculous."

"How are we supposed to do that?" Bumblebee asked. "Every time we fight him face to face, we always lose."

"Not if you have us!" Jay said confidently. "We're trained in battle! With us on your side, you're sure to win against Mothball."

"Yeah!" Cole said. "We've got your back!"

"Really? You'd help us?" Foxgirl asked.

"Of course! We're ninja; we protect people," Zane said. "And we kick butt."

"Alright, let's do it!" Turtle Dude cheered. "Uh... but how do we get back?"

"I think that'd be my job," y/n mumbled nervously. "But I'm warning you, I've never brought this many people over at once; I don't know for sure what's gonna happen."

"It's okay, you've got this," I told her.

She took a breath in, then exhaled slowly. "Alright. Everyone grab onto me."
