Lloyd and I headed to the library, where he pulled a particular book out of one of the shelves at the back of the room. The bookshelf opened up, revealing a dark hallway.
"Whoa," I muttered. "Did you know this was here?"
"Of course I did," Lloyd replied, stepping inside of the spooky corridor. "I've uncovered every single secret passageway in the school."
I followed him into the hall, but no more than two steps into the corridor, an arrow came flying at me. I screamed and jumped out of the way before it pierced me right through the head.
"I'm starting to think this may not have been the best idea," I said.
"Nah," Lloyd assured me, swatting the air. "Come on! It's totally safe."
Despite my growing concern, I decided to trust his judgment. The passageway was dark, so Lloyd took my hand and led me through the stone corridor. After a while, when it was getting too dark to see in front of us, he hit the wall three times, and a torch lit up.
"How did you know that was there?"I asked.
He shrugged. "When you're constantly on the run from your classmates, you get pretty familiar with different ways to get around the school."
Lloyd grabbed the torch and used it to light the way. A few more minutes passed, but then he stopped walking and I bumped into him.
"What is it?" I wondered.
"I don't remember this being here," he said, facing the wall to our left. Etched into it was a symbol, a circle inside another circle with some other lines in the middle of it.

"It looks like a rune," I said, reaching out to touch it. As soon as my fingers made contact with the mark, it started to glow. I shielded my eyes as the image pulled away from the wall and turn into a sphere of light.
Both Lloyd and I were at a loss for words as we stared at the orb. Neither of us asked any questions, but we were thinking the same thing: what the heck just happened?
Suddenly, the floor beneath us opened up, and swallowed us whole. We both screamed as we tumble down a tunnel, but I was silenced as the walls surrounding us started to glow brightly.
"Does this happen regularly?!" I shouted over the sound of the wind rushing through my ears.
"Not at all!" he yelled back. "Try to grab onto something!"
I clawed at the walls of the tunnel, but there wasn't anything to hold onto. With a sigh, I embraced the fact that there was no way out of this, and just let myself fall. Eventually, We tumbled out of the illuminated tunnel and onto a cobblestone floor.
"Ugh," I groaned, trying to stand up. I was really dizzy, but through the haze, I realized we were surrounded by desks and chairs.
"Where are we?" I wondered. "Another part of the school?"
