Ravus POV

What should I do about these power stations? Or the constant creatures that kept appearing outside of Tenebrae? Or Niflheim's demand for power from me? I'm left all frustrated and stressed by all of this. I sat there in my office, staring at the stack of documents that needed to be taken care of. I leaned my head on my hand, pinching the bridge of my nose in exhaustion.

" I just want you to know that if anything upsets you, I will be here waiting for you to return. You can open up to me about what happened and I will always be here to lend an ear."

I sighed heavily as I remember Alida's promise. I really miss my dear wife, her smile, hands, loving kisses, everything about her. Might as well surprise her with a bouquet of flowers and some of her favorite snacks tonight. I felt bad every time I left her for work, leaving her all alone. Suddenly, a guard crushed into my office out of breath, panting in panic. I straightened my back up as I saw his condition.

"What do you want?" I glared at him with a grim tone

"It's an emergency, Your Highness. Lady Alida, s-she was found collapsed in front of her quarters!" He ratted out with an agitated voice.

My heart dropped, cold sweat began to cover my face and hands, chill shivers down to my spine. I quickly got up from my chair, with my eyes blinked furiously. Damn it all...I slammed the desk in front of me with my hands.

"Where is she now! I demand to know!" I yelled, my heart filled with worry and fear.

"Lady Alida has been safely transferred into the infirmary, the medics are looking after her now" The guard reported.

I fled the room, rushing through the hallways. Alida, please be alright, I'm so sorry, I'm...sorry. My sight became fuzzy with tears on the way. I slammed open the door of the infirmary, my heart broke as I saw Alida lying on the bed unconsciously. I looked at the head doctor, looking for answers.

"How is she? What happened to her?" I asked with a cracked and stern voice, out of breath.

"Fortunately, they will be fine. But, she may have to take some iron supplements from now on. Earlier, her blood level decreased, causing her to faint." The doctor explained, looking at her analytic papers.

They? Low blood level? She was doing fine these days, what in the world happened. My heart thumped nervously, thinking of many cases that she might have a serious disease. Alida, why didn't you tell me what's bothering you. It's not only me who needs someone to talk their heart out.

"Why did her blood level decreased? Is it some kind of terminal sickness, virus, or genetic disease?" I asked, looking over at Alida's unconscious face.

"It's due to the changes in her body. Her body uses parts of her nutrition and cells to support the growing life inside her." She exclaimed, pushing her glasses upwards.

Growing life? I turned to look at the doctor, still puzzled about the situation.

"What do you mean by that?"

She cleared her throat.

"I suppose Lady Alida could tell Your Highness herself. She told me that she alone will inform you of her condition. Please excuse me" The doctor bowed and left the room without any word.

I walked and sat beside Alida, holding her fragile hand with two of my own. Holding and caressing her hands in front of my lips. I shed a pain-filled tear, with my hands trembling in place. It's nostalgic, like that day a few years ago.

"If only I know why you have been avoiding me these days. I missed your smile, Alida. Please wake up soon"

I dismissed all of my work that day and continued to be by Alida's side. Some works may be postponed, but I can't leave her side until she has recovered. Moreover, taking care of her is one of my duties as her husband as well. How can I let this happen again? Guilt filled my heart. I silently prayed, wrapping my hands around her palm.
