The next morning, surprisingly my father visited the manor. Along with my brother and Callen coming in, boy was I not ready for my father's reaction. When he got his sights of Lilac in my arms, he immediately cried tears of joy. Even though he's already at an old age, he can't contain his happiness meeting his granddaughter. I handed her into his arms, Lilac immediately laughed at my father's face
All of us in the room was shocked, faces full of wonder. Callen approaches me first, asking about my well-being. I replied to her in satisfaction, as I heard a commotion in front of us. My father and brother continued to fight over Lilac, competing over who she will love the most.
"Who's a cute little girl? You are, my sweet granddaughter!" My father cooed at Lilac with such a childish tone.
"Father! It's my turn to hold Lilac, she needs to know how awesome her uncle is." Hammond protested. Me and Callen both pinched their cheeks in anger. Me, my father's cheeks, while Callen pinches my brother's.
"You're going to make Lilac cry, don't be so loud" Callen softly scolded, making them return to their composure.
I can feel Ravus' scary glare from far away when he saw them fighting. Silencing the two men with only his menacing stare. He's already so protective of our little girl even family members are considered imbeciles. That's if they make Lilac's mood go south, you don't want to do that...EVER.
My father brought many gifts for Lilac, spoiling her with the best clothes and little dresses. We do get many things that day, from the neighboring kingdoms, citizens, and our families. Niflheim didn't even care about a thing with Lilac's birth, it's better that way. From Ravus, he had already prepared the most beautiful nursery, decorated with white or blue trinkets and furniture. He even picked the finest wood in all Tenebrae to be made into the baby cradle Lilac will use.
Ravus was the one who decided for the cradle to be placed in our room. He doesn't want Lilac to be separated from him at all. He is the most doting father over Lilac, I mean it. She's all that Ravus' put his attention on other than me. He would hold and kiss her cheeks every time he returned from his work. Few times did he carry Lilac in his arms all around the manor, even into his office. I just watched from the sides, admiring his fatherly side to Lilac. He would literally obliterate anyone who even dares to complain about him carrying his own child around. It pains him every time he has to work at Gralea, the central city of Niflheim, or anywhere else outside of Tenebrae.
The first few weeks were a nightmare, handling a baby isn't that easy. Me and Ravus would be woken up in the middle of the night by Lilac's sudden cries. It would take a long time to calm her down, switching between me or Ravus who does it. Even if we were sleep-deprived by these events, we would still be there for her. After a few months though, Lilac was able to sleep through the whole night. Diaper duty, not the most favorable thing in parenting. Most of the time, I would be changing Lilac's diapers with the help of Maria. I already got the handle of it now, but not Ravus.
"Correct me if I am wrong, Alida. I have to put the baby powder before putting new diapers on her, right?" He asked me, still confused as he stared down at the energetic Lilac on top of the diaper table.
"Yeah, that's right, Ravus. You might want to bear with me when you open her dirty diaper" I warned him, pointing at Lilac's diaper.
Both of us were in the nursery, just in time for Ravus' break. I thought I could let him do the diaper change for once in a while. Lilac just laid her back on the table, wiggling her limbs upwards. I stood on the side as Ravus tried to manage this. Hell breaks loose when he unravels the foul-smelling diaper. His face turned into a nauseous one along with me, his hands trying to multitask. It looked like he wanted to barf from the smell, but he tried to keep his cool.
