A Meaningful Name

"We already have, ever since I found out that she was with child. She even looked up some baby names in the library and suggested them to me afterward. That's how excited she is, as always. In return, I also came up with some names if our child is going to be a boy" I replied, with a light huff

"Anndd? What names did you get then?" He asked with such an enthusiastic face, leaning forward from the chair.

"Well, if it is a boy, his name would be Dylan. If it is a girl, her name would be.."

"Ravus!" Alida wrapped her arms around me from behind while I was sitting.

I turned my head upwards to meet her sparkly eyes, chuckling. I was just sitting in our quarters and reading some of my work, accompanying her for today.

"I have come up with more girl names that I got for our baby, would you like to listen to some of them?" She happily asked. "Why won't I? It is for our child after all. Go on, I am all ears" I smiled at her thrilled face.

"Alright, here it goes." She took a deep breath and exhaled it instantly.

"Rose, Kally, Julia, Talila, Merry, Winnie, Nina, Penny, Lilac-" I put my hand on her when I heard the name Lilac. "Lilac? You and your mother's favorite flower?" I intertwined our fingers with care.

"Yeah, I figured out it would make a great name candidate. Since it is her favorite object that I know for this whole time. Because of that, I grew into liking it, so that's that." She giggled, making me review the name over and over in my mind.

"Lilac.." I stood up and faced Alida, holding her cheeks with my right hand. "What an elegant and gentle name, we should go with that." I kissed her forehead, receiving a warm hug in return.

"I think our child here gladly agrees on that as well, I felt a tiny kick a few seconds ago." Alida pulled away from me and rubbed the six-old month bump, grinning to herself. "You certainly are an excited one, child." I lowered my body to her belly and rubbed it with my hands, Alida's face elated.

"Lilac.." I ended it with a chuckle.

Hammond threw himself back unto the chair and chuckled blissfully. "Those names sound splendid, Ravus. Lilac, Dylan...both of them are extraordinary" He commented.

"It took a while to determine the names, although it is hard, both me and Alida enjoyed searching and coming up with those." I leaned my head against the back of my hand, relieved.

Hammond laughed some more, telling me about his trips, how he met Callen, and how he proposed to her. Hammond actually proposed to Callen when they were at Accordo, which is three weeks ago. He wanted to show it to Alida and myself when we are acquainted with Callen.

"That sums it up, I know, not too romantic right?" Hammond concluded, chuckling at his own tale.

"I thought here the fact that you were a womanizer, you should have at least known how to do it properly. No wonder Alida has worries for your love life." I sighed with displeased at his actions.

"You don't have to rub salt on the wound, alright! But it all turned upside down when she accepted it, at least she said yes." He protested, snarling down at me. "I am just joking, Hammond," I said with a straight face.

"Well, it doesn't feel like it.." He pouted, annoyed at the fact that it was a joke. We paused for a moment of silence, bonding between in-laws such as this is pleasant.
