With the sight of the well-arranged plants and flowers surrounding us, we enjoyed the sweet jasmine tea together. Callen told me about my brother's work around Accordo and Lucis, how he once got to serve King Regis his dish. My mind stopped for a moment, stopping the moving gears, bringing it to a halt. My brother proudly bragged how King Regis really enjoyed his dish.
"And then he said "What a fine example of a great cook you are, Hammond. It is a delightful moment for me to savor this dish.". I mean it's really a big honor for me " he bragged, imitating the King's voice in the middle.
Both me and Callen just watched as he blabbered out his achievement. We looked at each other, rolling our eyes, not giving a damn about him. We giggled, my brother, put his words at a halt, admiring our fast familiarity with each other. He elbowed Callen's shoulder with a smirk
"See, Callen. Told you that my sister is really easygoing. In fact, I can already see that you both have bonded really well." Lifting his eyebrows up and down
"It's because both of us have some things in common which cheered myself up, unlike you who only gave me some burdens for me to lift" She commented
"Whatever, Callen" He pouted in silent anger
"But that doesn't mean that I would have anyone replacing my big goofball here" Callen added, poking his left cheek.
This sight does remind me back when me and Ravus were still dating. Our kind of relationship is rather more complex than theirs. While they openly insult each other, resilient to each other's actions. Me and Ravus took it the other way, sensitive and worried about each other's feelings. Caring to heal each other's wounds physically and mentally. Our kind of love is what some people may call an "Open" relationship. Talking heart to heart, physical contact such as holding hands or headpats, and being there for each other.
When we accidentally hurt one another, we both tried to reason and talk it through. It is a deep commitment, especially at that time our status is way different. Hiding our relationship wasn't easy, avoiding people from being suspicious every time we are together in the manor. I'm glad that is already in the past, I wonder what he is up to now.
"So, Callen. Have you read some of Rudolph Pierce's latest novels? My brother told me that you liked his novels very much" I asked as I sipped my cup of tea.
"Of course, I had to get it as soon as it was released. Otherwise, it would sell out." She replied with sparkly eyes.
"Do you know the part where he gives his opinion on how society reflects on others' actions? That's my favorite part in his novel "The Way of The People"." I let out my inner bookworm, discussing our interests in novels.
"I know right? It's such an inspiration on how accurately it is compared to real life."Callen replied
Callen and I both blabbered out on our knowledge of books. Enchanted and ancient languages released from our tongues, leaving my brother stared at us confused.
"Alida, tell me. What is His Highness like to you, his wife?" Callen asked, caughting my brother's attention
"Yeah, I was wondering about that too. Did he do anything to hurt you? Anything going downhill?" My brother curiously demanded, getting a shove on his sides by Callen's elbow. "Don't ask questions like that, you idiot!" She hissed
"What!? I'm just concerned about my precious darling little sister here!" He complained.
I took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly.
"In fact, he is the best husband I could have ever imagined. He would constantly check on me whenever he can. Due to his work, we couldn't see each other every day. To make up for that, he would give me something like a bouquet of flowers or my favorite snacks to enjoy. Along with his gifts are little notes with his writing and feelings there. He only shows this side to me, to everyone else he would be cold and stoic" I proved to my brother and answered Callen's question.
