"As you already know, our mother died when she gave birth to her. I did some research and found out that Alida was born prematurely. And I also found out she has problems with her immunity, explaining why she can pass out so easily." He explained this new information is a new world to me by itself. "Meaning?" I asked, cold sweat beginning to emerge from my skin.

"Meaning that her body immunity might affect her during childbirth since she was born too early. I didn't even know this, I was only four years old at that time. I hate to break it to you, Ravus" He added, pausing for a moment before continuing.

I stood there in silence, my heart skipped a beat hearing about this. My mind tuned out all of the sounds near me, leaving my hands to tremble in fear. I snapped out of it when Hammond placed his hand on my shoulder, with a heavy heart.

"She has a chance of not surviving through it...." He whimpered desperately, I took it hard to swallow. "That's why I came to visit you two, to help prepare for the worst-case scenario."

"But..that doesn't mean it is a guarantee, right? Hammond, as long as I am beside her, she will be safe. " I soothed him down, still frightened at his words.

"I...I...I just don't want to lose her, Ravus. You know how that feels, right?" He bit his lips hard, letting out some tears. "I was right there when it happened, it's like a repetitive nightmare for me" He gripped his right shoulder.

I guided Hammond to sit down first, grabbing an extra chair on the way. His body shaking furiously, face full of terror. Brother and sister alike, both of them act the same when they break down. Sitting down on my office chair, I could see him patting his chest trying to calm down. I bent down on my chair, fidgeting my hands. I lift my head up, encouraging myself to speak up

"I know both of us are certainly scared by this new piece of information. But fearing it will make the situation worse, even I couldn't comprehend it all. I am not being ignorant of this, I also want what is best for her and our child. I believe in her, she has the will and strength for it." I said with a reassuring voice, to help me and Hammond feel better.

"Y-you're right, maybe I'm being too paranoid here. I could see that my sister is strong, especially back then in Alnwick. But, I cannot help myself from overdoing it. Since it all happened in a flash that one day." He placed his hands on his face, letting out a faint sob.

I looked at Hammond, wanting to know what happened. "Could you tell me about it? It is alright if you don't desire it." I asked

Hammond slowly let go of his face and lifted his head. Revealing his wet cheeks, swollen and bloodshot violet eyes. He wiped his tears with his arm, regaining his composure.

"I guess you deserve to know it, after all, we share the same fear of losing her. And the fact that... you're my brother too, Ravus" He gave me a sad smile.

Hammond POV

I calmed down my unstable breath first, preparing to tell Ravus the incident that day. I explained everything to Ravus, his face filled with sympathy. I remembered those memories as my words slipped from my own tongue

"Mommy, mommy! Can you read me a bedtime story, pleeassee?" I cheerfully asked my mother with a bubbly tone

My mother who was sitting next to me on the couch in the living room looked at me with warm eyes. "Of course, Hammy. How could I decline my own son's request?" She kissed me on the cheeks, I felt ticklish and giggled.
