Chapter 23

It's near the beginning of October now, it's been a few good weeks since leaving Forks and since Emmett and Isla's competition. Isla and Eleazar have been working together daily and Isla honestly feels herself improvising.

Emmett has begun teaching her to fight vampires bigger than her. He helps her with the strength and Jasper helps her with strategy. He's fought newborns, so sparring and rustling with Isla was enjoyable, and something Jasper knew how to do because of Maria. Isla made it... bearable to live through the memories of fighting a newborn. Isla's worth the remortgage ptsd Jasper will experience... away from her. He won't allow her to see him freak out.

Alice finally got ahold of Edward and he had a serious, deep conversation with Isla. He doesn't blame her for nearly attacking Bella. He blamed himself for bringing Bella into the world of the unknown. He bigjthher into danger. And that was when Isla had a serious talking to with her great-great uncle, telling him it wasn't his fault Bella was nearly attacked.

Those conversations went better than either telepath had imagined. They both quit blaming themselves. Isla also to,d Edward about Eleazar being her vampire mentor while in Denali, he was glad someone with good self control and experience with the vokutir is helping Isla learn. He'd have been happy with Carlisle helping her, too.

Edward had a good, much needed laugh when Isla and Emmett both filled him in on their strength competition a few weeks ago and about how Emmett lost because he lost two fo three of the competitions. He pouted about losing but he soon accepted it. He's glad to have a little sister who likes to spar with him. Rosalie likes... other things with him and Alice prefers shopping too much,

Laurent and Isla have become pretty good friends. He has stuck around lately, been helping Isla and himself with the animal diet. He's been doing good and even the Cullens like him. Especially since Isla is giving him a chance. But it doesn't surprise anyone. Isla is the type that she would have given James a chance if he hadn't of went after Bella and Victoria if she didn't change her.

Instead of the mentor/student relationship Eleazar and Isla had at the beginning, they now have a uncle and niece relationship. Isla has even began calling him uncle Eleazar and Carmen is now auntie Carmen. She's friends with Kate and she likes Tanya ok. She and Irina are still wary of each other but that's slowly fading, very slowly.

Jasper and Isla have went to the beach and walked under water, and kissed under the ocean while the fish swam around them. It was really romantic and Isla loved everything second of it. She loved every second she spends with Jasper, rather it be resining or their couple moments or hunting parties.

Since Isla already claims them as such, Carlisle and Esme have insisted she call them mom and dad. To tell people - if she sees them - that they officially adopted her while they were gone. When Isla first called Esme mom, Esme would have been a sobbing mess if she were human. It warmed her dress heart hearing those words. Carlisle gave Isla a bigger hug than he usually gives people when she first called him dad.  It was all very sweet.

Isla has grown closer with Rosalie, which wasn't a surprise. They're the best of friends and sisters now. They go hunting and shopping together, with Tanya and Carmen sometimes. Isla and Alice are like sisters, but they're not as close as she and Rosalie are.

Alice is still mateless but that isn't a problem, not at all. She's happy for everyone around her and she has seen her mate. She blocks her thoughts from Edward and Isla because of who it was. It scares her but also kind of... excites her. Because of who he is, where he is, and the fact he has no idea about her yet. Alice is glad to be clairvoyent and see the future, she sees things before they happen. She still isn't one hundred percent why she was there, but she knows she meets her mate at his home. Neither one of them have made a decision in her visions so they never go further than them finding out they're mates.

October passes pretty quickly and on Halloween, there are a few Alaskan kids that trick-or-treat at the Denali cabin. Jasper and Alice went to get the candy so that Esme can hand it out. Isla's eyes might be slowly fading, but they're still too obviously crimson. She nods the covens want her to scare the children by exposing herself. Or risk her breaking rules. Isla knows better.

Isla is enjoying her vampire live to the fullest.
