Chapter 25

Jasper is at the beach on the first of December, lighting the candles, smiling as he thinks of how this evening could turn out. He hopes Esme is right and Isla won't say no. Emmett and Eleazar are both confident Isla will say yes, and so is Esme. The others already talked to Alice and know what Isla is going to say; which Jasper thinks isn't fair, but he doesn't protest.

He is too busy thinking about the best part of his existence to even contemplate protesting or arguing with the Denali and his own coven.

During the proposal, the others will be hunting nearby so they can listen, but they'll be far neighbored so Isla won't sense them. As a newborn, Isla pretty much has a sixth sense and jasper wants to be extra careful not to make her suspicious and to throw her guard up.  

Jasper hears walking and he knows it's about time. He lays out the light yellow blanket, one if Isla's favorited from Forks. It was one Paul sent her for her birthday, even if she wasn't aging anymore. He hears a sharp intake of breath and feels the surprise. He looks up and he sees Isla gazing at the candles and she looks at him.

"Jasper?" Isla speaks, her voice is soft.

Jasper rushes over and takes her hand. The empath leads the telepath to the blanket, and her eyes are wide and still in shock.

"Isla, I love you with all of me," Jasper begins. "I have loved you ever since I first saw you at your house. You had just finished walking Ronny. I was int he car they slowed, and emselt stopped. You were literally breathtaking." Jasper looks into her eyes. "You brought me back to life, Isla Cullen, and I was wondering..." Jasper kneels on one knee and Isla's eyes fill with venom. "If you would do me the absolute pleasure of becoming my forever?"

Isla nods, speechless. She nods rapidly and Jasper grins as he slides the ring onto her finger. He stands and he kisses her passionately. Isla whimpers a little and she hugs her new fiancée. The both of them inhale deeply and hold each other on the beach.
