Chapter 28

"NO!" Irina suddenly screams as she gets back from looking for Laurent, venom in her eyes, she glares at Isla.

Isla rolls her eyes. "What did I do this week, Irina?"

"Laurent is DEAD!" Irina screams.

"And where was he killed?" Isla asks. "I've been here working to be a vampire with Eleazar. Which, of course, you knew that."

"Your little family of mutts killed him!" Irina hisses.

"And you think control them," Isla sighs. "Of course you do, Irina. You're always looking for a reason to hate me. So I guess the reason you chose is because of who my blood family on my father's side is?"

Irina stares at her in shock. "How are you related to Edward, or are you really?"

Carlisle cuts in this time. "Edward is Isla's great-great uncle, Irina. They really are blood related."

"Yes, Edward may be your family," Irina says in a cold tone, "but your other blood family is a mutt. One of which whom killed Laurent."

"You know I actually liked Laurent," Isla says. "It's not like you care... I liked him even when his... buddy liked me, creepily. You're not mad at me because my family in La Push killed Laurent to protect someone, probably, but you just wanted a reason to hate me and you know what, Irina? Hate me all you want. I won't sink to your level and hate you... for nothing. There's no point."

She lays Irina's cheek. "I am sorry about Laurent, rather you believe me or not, he was a good one... sometimes."

Isla flashes into the trees and she releases a dry sob. She and Laurent actually did grow a pretty steady friendship. Got along perfect. And now he's dead. Isla calls Paul while sitting on top of the cliff.

"Hey, stranger," Paul greets. "Did you hear...?"

"You killed Laurent, yeah, I heard," Isla replies. "Gave this one vampire a reason to hate me because you're my cousin."

"Well, screw her," Paul replies. "That Laurent fic was threanring Bella, was going to kill her."

Isla grimaces as Eleazar joins her. "Is Bella okay?"

"A little scared because she saw some giant wolves rake down a block sucker," Paul laughs, "but I think she'll be just fine."

There is someone talking in the background and Paul groans on almost annoyance before sharing something in agreement.

"Embry Call and Quil Ateara phased,"Paul informs her and Eleazar listens with a smile. "Jacob Black is showing symptoms of the first phase, he'll be one soon enough.... Okay!" W suddenly yells. "Jared says hi, he wouldn't shut up until i told you."

Isla chuckles. "Tell Jared hello. Keep up good work of protection the humans, coz. We'll talk soon."

"Alright, Mrs. Hale," Paul winks. "Come and visit me at the treaty line soon, Isla."

"Okay."

"What is Paul's rank on the pack?" Eleazar asks. "I can tell by his voice he's pretty high up."

"He's omega," Isla replies. "He's fierce, but protective. A severe hothead. But he is all for the pack and family."

"Want to go see if a rabbit can outrun tou this time?" Eleazar asks in amusement.

"You never told Emmett, did you?" Isla asks as the vampires stand up.

"I'd rather not see you kill him out of annoyance, so no," Eleazar replies, "I didn't tell him about the rabbit mishap."

Isla grins at him before she's off. Eleazar shakes his head and he chases after her.
