CHAPTER 17: GO

||3RD POV||

She smirked slightly when they got a point but her face returned to her blank expression when she noticed how Aobajohsai's team stared at her. She rolled her eyes at Oikawa who sends her a flying kiss and held her hands behind her back as her attention went back to the game, causing the older brunette to pout as he stared at her while the others snicker at him. She bit back a squeal when she saw Hinata and Kageyama do their fast attack and the entire gymnasium was silent except for the whistle being blown. She started to fiddle with her taped fingers as she was in a daze yet she was planning how to play if she gets into the game or when.

She snapped out of her daze when she heard the whistle go off, she raised a brow when she tried to figure out what was happening and she glances at the scoreboard. Out of realization, she smiles when she saw they won the first set. They were on a water break for a few minutes and she and Ukai started to discuss the rotations in the next set. Nodding, they separated after being satisfied with the plan, she started handing everyone their water bottles and towels while congratulating them. When the whistle blew, Ukai sends her a nod and she beamed as she switched out with Hinata who sends her a sheepish smile which she returns with her own. 

She high-fives the orange-haired male as she said, "Don't worry, I despise the spotlight on me." He nods and started to recall how she spoke of her previous school, how they threatened them before games or how they were forced to train until dawn, and how they were yelled and ordered around 24/7. He felt bad as he stood next to Sugawara on the sidelines and he stared at her with pity as he felt bad for her when she went through that. She was at the net as a middle blocker as the referee blew the whistle, she stated when Kageyama was about to serve, "Nice serve, Kageyama."

The ravenette served the ball with a powerful hit and no one on the other side could receive it, she heard the whistle go off as they earned that point. She lets out a low whistle as she mutters, "A service ace..." He repeated the same serve and the same thing happened, the ball bounced off one of the guys' arms. He did it another three times and she started to feel pity for the other team but she didn't show it, she had a lazy look on her face as she watched how the ball slammed into their side.

She raised a brow when she saw them save the ball poorly after Kageyama served for the sixth time, she watched how Daichi blocked the feint that was going to happen and the ball hits the floor. But, she looked at the referee who was waving the red flag around as he pointed at the slightly moving net and the other referee gave the point to Tokonami. After a few minutes, they were at match point and she waved her hands slightly from when she slammed her powerful yet normal spike a few seconds ago. Tanaka served and they received it, she watched the ball with catlike eyes and jumped up with Daichi when they were about to spike, but Asahi saved it from behind them.

She cursed under her breath and ran to the other side of the net when Kageyama had the ball in hand, she slammed the ball into their side with a snarl on her face. Her face darkened when she saw them save the ball that she spiked, and once her feet touched the ground she jumped up to block the spike that they were doing but it went over her taped fingertips by an inch. She murmured as she narrowed her eyes at the opponents, "Damn stubborn... Take the damn hint." Nishinoya couldn't save the ball, unfortunately. Her face turned serious as they all stared at Tokonami with intense eyes, Kageyama sends a toss but she distracted the blockers as Daichi was in the air and he slammed it into their side.

She had hopeful eyes as a referee with the flag look where the ball hits and points his flag at it, showing it was in. She sighs in relief as she knew that they won the game, they all went to get their stuff and she was humming as she helped Kiyoko with items like water bottles and towels. Her tracksuit was shoved inside on her duffle bag along with her keys and helmet, she had it over her shoulder, she noticed the expressions on Kageyama and Hinata's faces. She swings her arms around their necks as she exclaimed with a smile when she went back to normal, "Yep! We won and now we get to play another game."

She felt eyes on her head and she looked over her shoulder, Oikawa stared at her with a smirk and she glared at him with warning eyes. She watched how he walked away with his team after sending her a peace sign which made her scowl while letting the duo go. Silently, she walked away to get a drink from a vending machine. She took out her jacket as she walked and placed it on, she readjusted it a bit and quickly placed her ponytail into a bun. She hums lowly as her eyes flicker around the place for a vending machine and found one, she smiled as she took out a few coins and placed it into it.

She pressed a button and heard a clunk as her drink fell, she picked it up and opened the energy drink. She licks her lips as she was about to take a sip but stopped when a hand slammed against the plastic surface of the vending machine. She raised a brow as she glanced at the suspect and scowled when she saw Futakuchi smirking down at her. "What do you want?" She asked as she didn't move a muscle and he said in a playful manner as he leaned closer to her, "Who knows? Your number may be or..."

Before he could continue, he saw that she was gone. Taken back, he looked where she went and saw her turn a corridor while drinking the energy drink. He stomped his foot against the floor when he hears her snickering and she smiled teasingly when she heard his yelling, "Man, you thought that a good-looking guy like him is this childish..." She shrugs as she went to search for her team while taking sips from her drink. She found them and shrank back when she saw Sugawara's expression when he saw the empty can in her hand, she yelped when he started scolding her, "Why an energy drink? That's bad for you especially when you drink it after a game!"

He noticed her flinch at the tone of voice he was using and his eyes soften, he apologized and saw how pale she got as she stared at him with fearful eyes. He reached out fo her but she stepped back and Tsukishima saw how she was on the brim of breaking into tears, he tugged her away as he spoke in a soft tone, "Its fine. He isn't mad at you." She nods with her head lowered and tossed the can in a bin nearby as she walked towards Kageyama who watched what happened, he started talking to her about how opponents noticed Hinata and how that was great.

She laughed when Hinata told the ravenette he looked scary when he smiled and he had a blank look on his face before gripping his head. Ukai and Daichi appeared out of nowhere and he spoke, "'That little number 10 and Fallen Angel' gets a big reaction. The bigger, the better. The more that Hinata and Aya shine, the more they blind the defense." She nods in agreement and dint mind that she was also a decoy, she kind of like it since she was always an ace or something. "So, the starting line up for the next match will be the same as the first," Ukai added on and she pouts, knowing that she would only be put in when needed.

Daichi blinks repeatedly when he saw her expression before looking at the paper in his hand, he announced, "Our next match is at 1:30 PM. Keep yourselves warm." Ukai placed his hands on his hips as he stated, "Have a light lunch. Don't fill yourselves up." They all nod and went to do their own thing. She was with Kageyama and Hinata who were outside tossing a ball between them, she was snacking on some sliced fruits that she packed in. She didn't notice how Sugawara called for the duo since she was in her own little world, she was still snacking on her fruit as she stared up at the blue sky.

She glanced at her watch and started to get up, she walked back to the meeting place as she ate a strawberry. You see, she had about five small containers full of fruits in her duffle bag but she also has a lot of water when it's critical. Everyone was back inside the gymnasium and she, without her white jacket, stretches her leg, but since she was incredibly flexible, her leg was straight up in the air as she held it up by her calve. She didn't notice how everyone stared at her as she silently counted while holding her leg like a ballerina, she did the same with her other leg and once finished, she raised a brow when everyone avoided her eyes as they went back to what they were doing.

Kiyoko brought the balls and they all started receiving, she had her volleyball aura around her and her hair slipped from the bun into a ponytail as she received the ball perfectly. She smirked when she saw Nishinoya receive the ball in a weird yet impressive manner, she slapped the back of Kageyama, Hinata and Tanaka's head as they yelled, "Awesome!" She laughed while sending a thumbs up at the libero, her voice was filled with excitement as she stated, "Nice receive, Nishinoya-senpai." He beamed when he hears what she called him and had a sparkly aura around him as he sprinted towards her as he yelled, "Aya-chan!" She sidesteps him while snickering as he landed face-first onto the floor.

That put everyone at ease...
