"Don't tell me—OMG, ba't tayo nandito?" I was looking at the old and abandoned elementary school. Dito kami nag elementary with the others. Dito nagsimula ang lahat and I hate to admit it that my feelings are getting stronger. 

Sumandal ako sa kotse habang nasa harap ko ang gate. The school was abandoned because of the fire that was set by thieves. Mahabang storya at marami ring nasugatan. Sinunog niya ang school at daylight and the scene was just too unexpected that we failed to notice it. They set the comfort rooms on fire first before the storage rooms and it went on. 

The tree where we used to play hide and seek and race to the top branches, now had fairy lights surrounding it. In front of the tree was a table and two chairs. Hindi ganito ang mga dates namin. Ano 'to?

"What the hell is this, Alejandro?" Alejandro ang tinawag ko sa kanya pag serious o confused ako. Iba ang nasa isip ko. Para na kasing date sa mga jowa e. Hirap kaya umasa sa wala. Baka iba ang iniisip ko at iba rin sa kan'ya. 

"My surprise," sabi niya habang nakangiti. 

"Palala lang Alejandro, ha. Hindi tayo mag-jowa. Ayokong umasa," I faced him seriously while cupping my face. Hindi pwedeng kiligin sa ganitong sitwas'yon baka masaktan lang ako sa huli, diba? 

"you really don't remember the date today? " I raised my eyebrow and stared at him, trying to remember something. My eyes widened and pointed at him. 

Ginaya niya reaks'yon ko habang inayos niya ang table. "Gaga ko," sambit ko naman at sinampal ang sarili. 

"Maligaya ako na alam mo," nakangiting sabi niya. Oy, nakakahiya, nakalimutan ko. It's been 16 years since our friendship really started. Probably the day I was born, we were already friends but we have no clue. We were so silly that we set a date to start our friendship and that was November 18, 1996. He was five and I was four. 

"Uy, I'm so sorry. Wala akong surprise para sa'yo," nagi-guilty ako. Guilty ako dahil nakalimutan ko at wala rin akong suprise. Hirap naman kung meron akong surprise pero nakalimutan ko kung bakit may surprise ako. 

"It's okay, ililista ko nalang 'yan sa mga nakalimutan mo," biro naman niya. Umupo ako pagkatapos niyang hinila ang upuan. I thanked him for the gesture and waited for him to sit down. 

"what's the flow of your surprise?" I asked after I cut the battered chicken. I didn't touch the beef ragu. 

"Kana, this is literally a surprise," alam kong nai-irita na siya pero pinipigilan niya ang sarili na sumabog. Yataps ako diyan mamaya. 

"Sige na nga, kain na tayo," We talked while we ate and it was truly a lovely dinner. When we finished eating, we walked around the school and even if it was a little creepy to stroll around at night, it was wonderful. Nag away pa kami dahil may mga na-aalala ako na hindi na niya na-aalala and vice versa. When we went back to the table, we saw pictures of us that was taken today. 

I looked around and try to find cameras but I couldn't find any. Then he stood up in front of me. "Sigurado ka na hindi ka co-confess?" pang-aasar ko sa kan'ya. Hindi naman mangyayari 'yon.
