Chasing My Love [Completed]

Chapter 21

It has been more than a week simula ng kasal nina Atticus at Celine. Everything quickly went back to normal. 

Sari just got home sa condo nila ni Yego at wala pa rin ang asawa niya. Usually talaga nauuna siyang umuwi. He goes home at around 7PM at siya naman ay mga alas-sais.

Iniisip niyang magprepare ng dinner kaya naka-apron na siya ng may kumatok sa pinto.

She quickly peeked at the door hole ng makitang ang kaibigan niya iyong si Josh.

"Well, well, well," Josh greeted her nang pagbuksan niya ito ng pinto at pagkatapos ay bumeso sa kanya ang kaibigan. 

"Josh! How did you know I'm here?"

"Look who's playing like a darling wife now?"

She looked at herself as well. "Hindi naman. I was just supposed to cook for dinner. Anong ginagawa mo dito? How did you know i was here? Come in," she said at hinila ito papasok sa grand sala nila.

"Nice penthouse!" Josh commented and sat down on the couch while still admiring the chandelier above them.

"Well, we both know this isn't mine."

"It is yours. Sa asawa mo ito di ba? Then, by legal conjugal rights, sa'yo na rin ito. So anyway, anong nangyari at nandito ka na ulit? Naglalandian na ulit kayo?"

Nanlaki ang mga mata niya sa tanong nito. "Ano ka ba! Hindi no?"

Josh just looked at her like she's a crazy liar. "Huwag mo akong niloloko, Saritha."

"Well, he offered a job for me to lead a foundation... my own foundation!!!" she excitedly said. "Sinisimulan ko na siya ngayon. But in exchange, he asked if I could live with him here for the meantime..."

Josh just smiled. "Matalino rin pala yang asawa mo, no? Napabalik ka niya dito nang hindi mo namamalayan. So what's next? Magkaka baby na rin ba kayo kapag pinondohan niya ng malaki ang outreach mo for battered wives in Africa?" tatawa-tawang tanong nito.

"Ang sama mo talaga."

"Just kidding! But I like his tactic. Anyway, I was just here to check on you. May mini-reunion kasi ang batch natin which I'm fixing as Student Council President of the batch. Here's the invitation. Isama mo na rin ang asawa mo if you want," sulsol nito.

Umiling siya. "No one even knows we're married and I'd like to keep it that way."

"Til when?"

She just shrugged. "We were just used to this set up of not letting anyone know."

"Ikaw rin. Kung ayaw mong ipaalam sa lahat ng babae sa mundo na sa'yo ang asawa mo, bahala ka. Basta 'wag kang iiyak-iyak diyan kapag may umagaw!" pagbabanta nito. 

Napaisip siya sa sinabi nito.

"Joke! Eto naman ang seryoso masyado."

"Wow, if this ain't a feast, I don't know what is," masayang bungad ni Yego nang madatnan siya sa dining area na naghahain ng mga niluto niya. He just took a bath dahil kakauwi lamang nito.

"Sit down," anyaya niya at tinanggal na ang apron na suot-suot.

"I could get used to this everyday," he said, while smiling. Umupo na rin ito sa headseat. 

"How was work?" she asked as she sat herself down at nagsimulang kumain. 

"The usual. Busy. How's your day? Kamusta ang trabaho?"

"Okay lang. I'm starting to get used to the job," she said. "And my mom is a big help."

"That's good. Anyway, ground breaking na ng bahay next week. I want you to come with me so you can check it out," masayang balita niya.

Nagulat siya sa bilis ng project na iyon. But at the same time, she felt so excited. Finally! "Wow, so maiitayo na siya beginning next week."

Tumango ito. "Yup, timelines were sent to me already and it looks like makakalipat tayo doon in five months."

She was so happy with this little suprise of his that she stood up to give him a big kiss on the lips at pagkatapos ay niyakap ito. "Thank you!"

"You're welcome," he answered at hinila ang asawa paupo sa kandungan niya. "I like it when you kiss me," he said at hinalikan muli ito sa labi. 

"Yego," she called out to him in the middle of his kisses. 

"Hmm?"

She pushed his chest a bit para tigilan muna nito ang ginagawa. "I have a question."

"Yes?"

"Don't you want to tell everyone that we're already married?"

Natigilan si Yego sa tanong niyang iyon. It's like he was suddenly shot judging from the shock on his face.

So Sari backed down a bit. "But if you're not okay with that, then we can..."

"No, it's... you're right," sagot nito na parang nasa malayo ang isip. "By the way, I just need to fix something for business. Aalis ulit ako for a business trip this week. Just three days but I'll be back as soon as I can."

Tumango-tango siya sa sudden mood change nito. Bigla itong naging seryoso. "Okay."

"Anyway, let's finish dinner, shall we?"

Mabilis na lumipas ang tatlong araw. Naisipan ni Sari na sunduin sa airport ang asawa bilang sorpresa dito. He has been so attentive with her the past week kahit na nasa ibang bansa ito. They would text the whole day and even up until at night kahit na pagod na ito.

So she was carrying with her a wine bottle with a ribbon in one hand and a placard on the right saying, "WELCOME HOME, HUSBAND!" 

It was already a big move for her. She has never once thought of  being this sweet for anyone. Pero parang unti-unti na yatang natitibag ni Yego ang pader na itinayo niya para sa sarili mula ng masaktan siya noon.

Maybe Josh was right. Maybe it's time for them to give it a chance.

At the arrival area of NAIA, she was waiting to see her husband. She has been standing there for ten minutes now nang makita niya ang anyo nito na papalabas ng arrival hall. She missed him!!

She was about to run forward to him to say "hi" para magulat ito na nandoon siya but she took some steps back nang makitang may kasama itong babae at nagpaalam ito doon. Yumuko rin ito para kausapin ang isang batang lalaki at yakapin ito. 

The woman he waved good bye to smiled at him. But what shocked her the most was the girl looked oh-so familiar... Was it Fiona?
