Chapter 28

He got up from the bed after making love to her. He was quiet. He didn't even say good bye. He just left the room.

Saritha was left thinking dahil sa biglaang pagbabago ng mood nito. She welcomed him and tried to be gentle pero parang hindi tumalab sa asawa niya. She breathed deeply and stood up para makaligo at makapagpalit ng suot or else mapapatay na siya ng asawa niya.

She got dressed in a nice long, white beach dress. It was a strappy dress which she bought in Sicily while on vacation there a year ago. Lumabas siya para sumama sa lunch with the other bride's maids.

"Where are the guys?" tanong niya as soon as she arrived in the restaurant of the resort. 

"They'll leave us be," sagot ni Celine. "We won't have fun kung nakabantay sila sa'tin buong araw!"

Natawa naman si Ashley. "I know! I can't believe I'm with my fiance at my bachelorette party. This should be just us. But anyway, I love him so pabayaan na lang natin."

"Kamusta naman ang siesta ninyo ni Yego?" mapanuksong tanong ni Celine.

"Ha?" patay-malisyang reaksyon niya and sat on the table with her two friends.

"Talaga lang ha?" dagdag ni Ashley. "Matapos ka niyang bitbitin na parang sako lang ng bigas at itanan kanina paalis ng pool?"

She breathed deeply and answered her friends directly. "He's weird... I just don't understand him. One minute, we were making love and the next, napakalamig niya sakin. He just left after having sex with me!"

Celine and Ashley's jaws dropped at her confession.

"Okay lang ba kayo?" she asked. "I was just being honest."

"So you and Yego really are a thing?" Ashley asked. "All this time I thought naghahabulan lang kayo for nothing. And totoo palang may nangyayari na nga sa inyo."

"Ashley, he's my husband" pag-amin niya sa kaibigan.

Ashley's jaw dropped again after she said that. Celine just nodded. 

"You're husband that wants an annulment soon," pagklaro ni Celine.

Nanlaki naman lalo ang mata ni Ashley. "I can't ... talk. I don't ... What happening? Bakit hindi ko 'to alam?"

"I made a huge mistake. I left him to go to Barcelona to hide from him. Pero nagkamali ako. Celine, remember what I told you? That I thought he had an affair and had a kid with another woman."

Tumango-tango si Celine. 

"I was wrong. He never had an affair and the kid that I saw wasn't his."

"Shit," Celine exclaimed.

"Hindi ko kinakaya ang dami ng nalalaman ko bigla ngayon," Ashley interrupted. "What annulment? Ni hindi ko alam na kasal ka na pala."

"We were when I was eighteen for family reasons."

"So when you went to Barcelona with me, you were trying to hide from him?" Ashley asked. "Same thing I was doing but with Aries."

Tumango-tango siya. "But now that I know the truth na walang kasalanan si Yego, I don't know what to do... I don't want to push through with the annulment any longer... Gusto ko sanang magkaayos na kami."

"That was three years of his life, Sari," Celine said. "Tatlong taon mo siyang pinarusahan sa isang kasalanan na hindi naman pala niya ginawa."

"I also punished myself by staying away from him!" pagdadahilan niya.

"That doesn't change the fact na ikaw ang nagkamali." Ashley and Celine looked at each other.

"What should i do?" she asked her friends. "I need him back."
