Parang biglang umikot ang paningin ni Sari. The waves sounded as if they were mocking her. She was the one at fault but her poor husband was the one suffering for her.
"What?" She was dumbfounded. Saritha sat beside Yego on the sand trying to process what he said. "I... am sorry."
He just looked at her. "You can't imagine what you've put me through, searching for you all those years, not knowing how to bring you back. And I thought this was the only way. But we ended up like this anyway. Maybe, it is right to just go on our separate ways..."
Umiling siya. "No, Yego, please..."
"What do you mean no?"
"I can't lose you," she whispered back. She sat facing him now and grabbed his hand. "I'm sorry. I'm at fault. Hindi ko man lamang hinintay na makapag- explain ka bago ako umalis. I'm so stupid. I put us through all this... Kasalanan ko lahat." And before she ended her piece, she felt tears automatically streaming down her cheeks. "I'm sorry... I don't want us to get an annulment. God knows how shocked and hurt I am when I received that letter from your lawyer."
"But why didn't you say something?"
"Dahil akala ko you cheated on me. I thought you deserved it all. And I thought you wanted this annulment para... para maging malaya ka na mahalin kung sino man ang totoo mong gustong mahalin," she said.
Umiling si Yego. "My poor, little wife. Haven't you known? I've loved you all these years. Ikaw ang gusto kong mahalin habang-buhay. Ikaw lang."
Her heart beamed with joy. Walang paglagyan ang kasiyahang nararamdaman niya ngayon. Is this how love and honesty feels? Because she likes it. A lot. "I love you, too, Yego."
"If I could just marry you again and tell the world how much I love you, I will," he said while holding her shoulders and bringing their faces closer to each other.
She closed her eyes to prepare herself for their kiss. But it was already a few seconds later but she didn't feel his lips. "Yego?"
"I will," wika nito.
"What?"
"Saritha, I will marry you again. In front of all our friends and family. Let's have another wedding. A grand one where I can show the world how much you mean to me. You are my life at hindi man lang ako nabigyan ng pagkakataon na ipakita iyon sa buong mundo. Will you marry me, Saritha? Marry me please." He was holding both her hands, clutching on it like his life depended on her.
In his eyes, she can see pure love... and forever. One that she never thought she'd see ever. Tumango siya sa proposal nito.
"Is that a yes?" he excitedly asked.
"Yes!" She threw herself on him for a hug. It was a moment of pure happiness.
He captured her face for a kiss, a lingering one. They were the only two people on that beach and the only two people in their own worlds. Wala nang iba pang mahihiling si Saritha. She has now confirmed the feelings of her husband and she get to spend the rest of her life with this man, her husband that has endlessly chased her despite her misgivings.
She is one lucky woman to find a love that will always be there for her no matter her faults and flaws, a love that will stay and will give her comfort.
"I love you, Diego Tantoco," she repeated once again.
"Say it again," he ordered her while kissing her.
"I love you..."
"It feels so good to hear you say that. I love you, Saritha. I always will."
