~LEONA~

"Who..are you?" I stuttered badly.

He looked a bit surprised before resolving back to normalcy.

If I'm not hallucinating, he speaks exactly like Dave and also like the man whose voice I heard when I was unconscious.

Could it be just one person?

Even though the two voices seem to be similar, they both have different characteristics.

While the voice I heard at the hospital was soothing and comforting, Dave's own was filled with mockery when he caught me in his house.

And this CEO? He's so rude and arrogant. Purely mannerless and mean.

So which is which?

"I'm the CEO, everyone knows that." He said proudly with that smirk.

" Or do I look like any of your babies daddy? No right?"

I glared at him and stood akimbo, ready to tongue-lash him. "I wish you were worth that tittle but unfortunately for you, you don't match up. Too bad."

" But I am worth being a CEO and everyone knows that including you."

" Yeah they know but I doubt if they have any idea how arrogant he is." I sneered.

" It's disrespectful to talk ill of me straight to my face." He sucked on his lips deeply with an intent look on me.

"How will you get the job with this loud mouth of yours?" he asked.

"Maybe I don't want it anymore," I said softly.

I really need this job though.

" Can you say that a bit louder?" He released his lips and picked up a stoic look.

"I need this job okay?" I gave up, I'mready to put up with him if need be.

"Ooh? Upon all your blabbering?" he mocked.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," I said sincerely. I shouldn't have spoken to him in that manner regardless.

I think this is the sweet Leona I've been trying to hide.

He was intrigued by how my behavior swung so quickly by the look on his face and I sensed that he wanted to comment but saved his breath for some reason best known to him.

When he went back to his seat and sat while motioning for me to do the same, I was surprised. He couldn't have forgiven me so easily, has he?

Either ways, I obliged and sat.

"So what job did you apply for?" He asked in a business-like tone.

Shit! I don't know.

Holy Virgin Mary! I'm such a fool. Why didn't I ask Raymond?

Oh, Lord! I am going to look like a fool in front of him upon my rudeness.

He relaxed in his chair and pouted at me in anticipation. He seemed to notice and he spotted an amused look.

"I stated that in my application letter," I said instead.

" Alright, I just wanted to be sure whether that's what you really want to do. "

Thank God! I thought he'd drag it.

" Are you Miss Leona Grande?"

" I am."

" Miss Grande, you applied to be an accountant but I would like to ask if you really know what goes into it."

Oh, so it was accountancy position I applied for.

But why's he asking that?

"Yes," I replied simply.

He scrutinized me as if searching for something that will prove that I can really be an accountant.

"So can you tell me what an accountant does?"

I gave him the 'are you fucking kidding me look.'

But his face remained serious and demanding.

I breathed and swiped my tongue over my lips before opening them to answer.

" Firstly, accounting entails monitoring the financial situation of an organization, business, or individual.
To answer your question, accountants typically focus on recording, classifying, interpreting, and communicating financial data." I concluded.

He nodded.

"An accountant requires strong analytical skills, mathematical proficiency, computer literacy, an understanding of all elements of company finances, and the ability to contextualize the data collected. What makes you an ideal applicant for this position?"

" I hold a first-class degree in economics." I stated.

" Is that all? You don't have a master's degree?"

I shook my head.

" What makes you think that the mere fact that you did economics can make you an accountant?"

What's wrong with him?

I sighed and tried to recollect some of the things I learned concerning accountancy even though I did pure economics.

"As an Economic student, we were taught vastly about accountancy which made it easy for us to be able to make sense of complex data sets and identify the root of financial problems, making us good matches for accountancy roles."

" Quite impressing." He sucked on his lips again.

My eyes snapped there before I quickly looked away. Such a bad habit he has.

"Don't you have any special skill that you're excellent at?"

"Huh?"

" Nevermind. How about we get practical?"

"Sure." I exhaled.
