★★DAVE★★

"Goodness! What happened to you, son?" Mary was frantic when Leonard and I stepped down from the remaining stairs.

"It's nothing major," I told her, and Leonard left my hand.

I saw him climb onto the couch and took a remote in his hand.

"Have you taken anything yet?"

"Yes, but please would you make me some soup?" I asked and followed her to the kitchen.

" Yes, why not. You must be feeling feverish."

"Not really, but...this shit actually hurts, more than I imagined it would," I told her and watched her go about the kitchen.

"I know. Sorry about that. I really want to know what actually happened."

" It's a gun wound." Once the words left my lips, I regretted it.

She gasped and the utensils fell from her hand.

Women.

"What?!" She exclaimed.

"Relax, Mary. I'll be fine."

She gave me a once over worried look. "Someone shot you and you say it's nothing major?"

" I appreciate your care, but please don't make me talk much. I just want to take the soup and rest."

" On it." She went back to her work.

After some minutes, she spoke again, and I'm not surprised because I knew she would.

"Was it about Leona? How did you find her? You were worried last night, and today you came with this." She eyed my wound.

" Oh, my God! Oh, my world! My Dave." I heard my mum's squealing voice In the living room, so I peeped and saw Leonard in her arms and she was playing with him.

Leonard seems to like her, as he continuously giggled at whatever mum was telling her.

"Dave?" Mum called. "Whose son is this? He looks exactly like you when you were a baby. This is your carbon copy, son. I can't believe this. How could he possibly resemble you like this?" She chatted happily.

" Where are you, Dave? I really love this boy. Why don't we adopt him? What do you think?" She went on.

" How can I adopt my own son, mum," I said and got out of the kitchen?

" You mean you've already adopted him?" Her eyes widened.

"You seriously didn't think the resemblance was just some coincidence, did you? No, this is my son." I tapped on his nose and he giggled. I felt happy admitting it to myself. It hasn't yet sunk in fully, but with time I'll get used to it.

I found out yesterday on my birthday, and it was the best birthday gift ever. I wasn't surprised when Lando said it because I already knew.

The boy is actually my son, and I'm glad people know that just by looking at him.

I started my investigations when we came back from Seattle and I personally went to the hospital near Leona's college just like she said.

I got to know everything that transpired in the hospital from where she was sick and came for treatment. After some weeks she came to see the doctor about her pregnancy because she believed it was insemination, and truly it was, even though the doctor didn't believe her.

I saw everything on the security cameras and even though I haven't run any tests to check if Leonard is really mine, I know he is. He's my son. That hospital was the same one Kathy went to and came back after some weeks that she was not pregnant and that she needed another sperm.
