                     DAVE

It's been a week and I've been with Leona all through. I've been informed that Lando has been arrested but he's in the hospital at the moment and also, I don't know what came over Katherine but I received everything back. I learned she was also arrested but got bailed. I didn't bother to ask who did it.

Raymond's last rites are yet to be done and we don't want it to happen in Leona's absence. Raymond's soul won't be happy either.

Today is the day I started a peripheral blood stem cell collection on mum's insistence and I took my first injection today. It's going to continue for five days then when I turn out to be a match, I will donate the Marrow to Emerald. I pray to be a match else we'd have to start looking for a compatible match.

I thought I'd have to recover first before I do it but mum spoke to the doctor and he said it's okay and that I can go through it.

A WEEK LATER and I'm ready to undergo the transplant. It turned out I was a perfect match which I am very happy about but mum was happier. She kept grinning and shedding tears.

The process was quite painful because of the countless needles that have been plugged into my skin. After three hours it was through and I felt extremely weak.

I got detained the whole day and on the second day, the same process was done which I did not understand.

"Why are you doing this again? I thought the transplant was already done?" I asked the doctor.

"This is your second donation for the little girl." The doctor said and placed a needle under my arm.

"What of the first one? What happened to it?"

"You donated it to your brother. That was the instruction given by your mother."

I don't get it. I don't have a brother so what are they talking about? What is mum up to?

She'd have to give me an explanation once I am through with this. How can she do this without my knowledge?

The second donation was a success but it took a toll on me.  I was in bed for days, days without seeing Leona.

After another week, I was okay and all my strength was restored.

"So mum, who did you make me donate my marrow to?" I asked when she came to my ward.

"A friend of mine's son. I'm sorry for not informing you. I'm really sorry."

"The doctor said the person is my brother. How's that so?"

She looked taken aback a little. "Maybe because you were a match, he thought you're related." She didn't meet my eyes.

I think she's hiding something from me.

"Is the person okay? What was wrong with him?"

"He also had blood cancer just like Emerald but after chemotherapy on him and your donation, he's recovering. Thank you, son." She smiled.

I nodded and she helped me up. I'm glad I was able to save a life. That's all that matters.

"How's Leona?" I asked as we walked to her room.

"She still hasn't woken up, I'm sorry."

It's almost been a month and she's still not woken up. When will she get up? Oh, Lord! I don't want this.

" I'd love to see Emerald."

"She's in the kid's ward. I'll take you."

"No. You shouldn't worry. Go be with Leona instead. Tell Dad and the rest that I'm with Emerald."
