I got up from the bed. "I misplaced Emerald's file so I came for it. Kim directed me here." I waved the file for her to see.

She stared at me suspiciously. "It's been a week. You don't even think of your daughter."

"And I am here now. Where's she?"

"If only you're a bit responsible and not busy being a thief, you wouldn't have asked this." She hissed and left.

Do you see that? So much attitude for an old hag.

How can I care for something I never wanted?

There were a lot of papers bound together and I can't wait to read all of it but not here.

I hid it in Emerald's file and rushed out of the room.

Once I was inside my car, I rolled the windows up and read the surrogate contract.

Okay. I didn't expect this.

It's written here that Mary's daughter Natalie, who I've been told is late, signed this contract with Kim and Charles. And Natalie is Dave's biological surrogate mum and not Kim.

Such interesting news. So Kim is actually not Dave's mother but her husband's son.

Dave's mum Natalie is dead and his grandma is Mary.

Wow.

I'm sure Dave has no idea about this.

Wow wow.  How can you be this lucky Katherine? Everything has been working in my favor lately. I didn't ask for this and yet I got it. Juicy information.

But I don't really care who Dave's biological parents are. I'm more concerned about Lando's parents. All the clues I am getting can't be coincidental.

I flipped the contract over and saw Dave's birth information. It was the usual boring shit except that in the sibling's section they wrote Damon.

I got more confused.

How can they be brothers? Based on the little I gathered about Lando when things were good between us, I know Lando didn't grow up in New Jersey whereas Dave was born and bred here.

Okay, so if Dave and Damon AKA Lando are brothers, then it means Damon and Dave share the same father but different mothers.

So Kim's actual son is Lando, not Dave. Interesting.

This is a lot. I'd have to talk to Lando. He might help clear my head. I haven't heard from him for a week after I attained the properties and I don't have his contact. I hope he'll be at his mansion.

I tossed the papers on the backseat and drove out of the house.

If truly Dave and Lando are related, then why didn't Lando stay with them just like Dave? What happened?

15 minutes later.

I was in front of his mansion but his guards won't let me pass.

"I need to see the boss. Now step out of my way!" I commanded but the fearful heavily built men didn't budge.

"He's not around." One of them said in a deep voice.

"It's urgent." I tried to convince them.

They looked at each other's face but did not say anything.

It was a week ago I brought Lando to the mansion after his attack. He's still in bed with an oxygen mask on his face and an unstable heartbeat. He's badly injured and I'm afraid it will take a lot of time before he'll get back on his feet.
