Episode 91

                     DAVE

When I left Lando I drove straight to the police station to pick Leona up. If indeed she's freed then I will be so happy and grateful but am not a fool. Lando will never do this if it won't be beneficial to him.

The moment I  stepped out of my car, the cameras flashed in my face as the police walked closer.

"You're under arrest Mr. Anosova." An officer whom I did not know said and they began to put a cuff around my wrist but I stepped back.

"What for?"

"You made a confession that you killed Mr. Grande."

What! I thought Max refused to accept it.

"Is Miss Grande released?" I asked instead.

"Yes, she was released a moment ago."

Thank goodness. I didn't mind when they put the cuffs around my wrist.

"I would like to see the inspector in chief," I said and walked into the police station to his office.

I'm glad they didn't try to force me into a cell. Perks of being rich.

"What is all this Max! I thought you said you won't record anything?" I boomed.

"I didn't do anything, Dave. I'm even surprised as to why you went ahead even after I told you not to."

"I didn't do anything!" I yelled and paced back and forth. "Get this shit off my hand!"

"Then who did?" He asked as he removed the cuffs.

"I don't know." I lied. I have a feeling this is all Lando's doing. "Do you have the recording? I would like to listen to it." I asked and rubbed my hands on my wrist. I've never been cuffed before.

"I haven't listened to it yet but it has been sent." He said.

"Well let's listen."

He took his phone out and soon my voice filled the office.

Oh no!

"Stop it, Max.!" I screeched.

"Isn't  this the same conversation we had a while back but an edited version?" We said in unison and stared at each other incredulously.

"Someone recorded and edited our conversation Dave," Max said and sat back in his chair.

"If it's not you then who could it be?" I eyed him suspiciously.

"I don't know. You have to believe me. I didn't record anything. Why would I do that to you? Didn't you see anything unusual on your way out earlier?"

I tried to recall it.

I only had a hunch that someone was eavesdropping but that's all.

"Whoa! I guess someone has played a fast move on you." He exclaimed.

"Yeah." My mind went fully to Lando. The asshole.

The ringtone of my phone broke the silence and I slowly fetched it out of my pocket. On the screen was an unknown number. I hesitated a bit before tapping on the green button.

" Honestly, I knew you were a fool but I didn't know you hold a first-class degree for that. I mean how could you? After I  let her go, you still went ahead and said those rubbish things to the police? If you knew that you can do that then why the fuck did you come to me in the first place? You're such a pussy, Dave and you'd rot in jail for being one. I will be benefiting though because you're now poor and absent from Leona's life. You're out of the picture and I have her all to myself now. I will take her far from here and you won't see her again,Dave. I hope you didn't think I helped you by getting her out." He chuckled.
