"Leo... Leona? Please do you know where she is? Take me to her please." Dad said.

" Of course she's not here." The man said instead of answering dad.

" She'll be here soon old man. Do give her the news when she comes that I came to see her." He smirked as he puffs the cigar.

" Who are you then?" Dad asked again. He seems to be the only courageous person among us to exchange words with this man.

"Her Shadow. Tell her that and she'll understand." With that, he turned on his heels.

" One more thing" he stopped and turned.

" Don't try to act smart because I won't think twice to send you back to the gutter I brought you from or better still, chop you all and feed you to my hungry piranhas. I really derive so much pleasure in doing that, trust me." He laughed devilishly and left with his men.

His words sent chills in my body. When I turned to my family, I realized wasn't the only one affected.

"What just happened here?" Mum spoke for the first time after he left.

"I don't understand anything," Dad mumbled.

"Didn't I tell you? That daughter of yours is going to be the death of us. I knew she was useless right from the start but I didn't think that she will go as far as becoming a gangster's partner...."

Seriously, did mum just name him a gangster?

" Are you stupid? Don't your mouth ever get tired of saying these things all the time?" Dad snapped and slumped on the couch.

" My daughter's life is probably in danger and here you are making false assumptions." He added.

" Are you visually impaired or something, Cornelius! When the gangster came who's name did he mention? Your Leona of course. What other proof do you need to know that Leona ran from home just to join bad companies? And how dare that rascal to threaten us in our own territory? You see what your love for Leona has caused? Now that hooligan wants to send us out for no reason." Mum ranted.

This fight is definitely not going to end today if dad retaliates. Mum sure has a bad mouth.

"Perhaps you've also forgotten that he said he was the one who brought us from where we were or you pretended not to have heard?" Dad asked rather calmly.

" And also have you not stopped once to think why they told us not to give our new address to anyone And why did they cut all our contact with friends and family? And as of now, my son has no idea where we are and we also don't know where he is?
Have you not noticed how our movements are being limited? Oh, you forgot since all you do all day is gobble food all the time and apply color to your face.
Wake up Tasha, this is not a good living if that's what you think. We're just living in a refined prison!" Dad lamented bitterly.

Dad is right. Since we moved in here he only goes to his shop then to the bank that's all.

Mum also goes to shop and that's all, she doesn't visit her friends anymore.

I was enrolled in a boarding school and even though our movements are being restricted naturally by the school authorities I still manage to sneak out with my friends but once I'm home, I only go shopping, no meeting of friends and the same applies to my younger siblings.

Dad is right, we have everything but it feels like we're being prisoned.

When mum didn't say anything else, he continued.
