LEONA
I looked at him in absolute shock, my eyes threatening to fall out. This is incredibly unbelievable. I blink multiple times to clear my vision in case I was hallucinating but no. He stood there with his bandages still on him. He didn't look strong but he's here.
My hands reached to grip Dave tight and my eyes water. With a shaky voice, I asked. "How?"
He limped towards me but I stumbled back. "Are you sure you're not a ghost? I saw your dead body, Raymond. I saw how pale you got. I saw everything. How can you not die?"
"Don't go away from me, sis." He winced and stopped limping towards me.
"I'm sorry for scaring all of you. I should've said this to you upfront. You know, after my car accident, I did self-medication before coming to Dave's mansion. I knew that man would try something so I couldn't stay at the hospital though I was going through a lot of pain. I took an overdose of a strong antidepressant and it helped after he shot me. I really didn't feel strong pain after the gunshot but it slowly induced me into a coma. The doctors didn't know. I guess they were in a hurry and didn't do any tests so they sedated me before taking the bullet out and later on induced me into a coma. It was too much for my heart and it weakened me. The doctors knew I didn't die but they couldn't build your hopes up. The chance of my survival was very slim so they just have to tell you I died. I was really not taken to the morgue and neither was I buried. I was kept in the intensive care unit and had to be transferred when Dave closed down the hospital. I woke up just yesterday and I came today to ask you to withdraw the complaint against the hospital authorities afterI was told. They really helped me. They just didn't want to push up your hopes and I know they're sorry..."
"Can...I hug you?" I cut him off.
With a start, I ran into his arms. I didn't even wait for his answer. I just want to feel him to know that he's indeed alive.
A burst of laughter spilled from my lips as his hands came gently around me. I breathed in his usual scent which was now mixed with drugs and everything 'hospital'.
"You're alive Raymond. Oh my God." For what seemed like forever, I just held him, held him tight. I made sure I heard his heartbeat enough to be sure.
"Don't strangle me please." He coughed and I had to step back but still close to him. I stared into his dull grey eyes and cringed at all the bruises on his perfect face.
"You're alive." I mused and my eyes together with my hands roamed on him.
"Told you I was not going to die."
"Yeah you did but...when I saw you...and everyone said you're dead. You weren't breathing and so pale...I lost hope, Raymond. My whole life came crashing down and I didn't know what to do. I wanted to just die Raymond." I cried.
"I thought I lost you. My existence was meaningless afterward. I love you so much, Ray. Why did you do this to me?" I hugged him again.
"Don't ever risk your life again Raymond. Don't ever dare, else I won't talk to you ever." I throw my pinky at him.
He chuckled. "How's my little niece?" And looked down at my belly.
I pulled back and followed his gaze before shaking my head. "I lost her Raymond." Tears welled in my eyes.
"Oh, Leona." Raymond pulled me in for another hug. "I'm sorry. You went through a lot."
"Losing the baby and you on the same day and my arrest almost drove me mad." I reported, feeling goosebumps grow on my skin at the memory.
