He swept me into his chest in a hug while I hooked my hands on his shoulders to make more contact with him.

"I could watch you smile forever, Leo."

"Me too."

" Now tell me everything. " I leaned on the railings and stared at him.

"Where do I even start?"

"Anywhere."

"Yeah okay so.." he sighed.

"If you can't say it then leave it."

" No, I want to. So this is it, my mum's family business and properties got seized by some people and the only way to retrieve it was if she has a male grandson and I was my mum's only son so rightfully, I have to settle down and have a baby. Unfortunately, during that time, I was recovering from a kind of heartbreak. My relationship status wasn't stable  because I broke up with a woman I plan to marry.."

" What happened? Why did you break up?"

" What else? I realized she was only interested in my money and she was cheating too so I just have to end things. Since then I moved around with ladies but not because I love them. We just have fun and that's all but it got to a point  that I have to stop.

Mum started pressuring me to settle down and she'd constantly hook me up with ladies but I was never interested in any of them so I always reject them. This continued for almost a year and in the following year, my mum came with Kathy and forced me to get engaged to her. I did that but I never touched her since I never liked her.

Mum reminded me that I have to impregnate her but I wasn't interested in getting intimate and since mum was insisting, I suggested artificial insemination and we went on with it... "

" And it was successful?" I interrupted.

I didn't know where he was heading to but my heart began to beat at the mention of insemination.

He raised his eyes to the dark sky then shook his head.

"Why?"

"Because the nurses didn't inseminate her, they mistook her for someone else and that person is none other than..." He paused to look at me. "You, Leona. "

What? My heart raced fiercely and I felt like I would explode. I blocked my mind from thinking about the obvious.

" You're kidding me right?"

"No. Kathy didn't get pregnant after a month and over and though she didn't tell me I knew.  I just kept quiet. In the third month, I started seeing signs of pregnancy on her and it was then she told me that she was three months pregnant instead of a month. I got a secret test done on her when she fainted one day and it confirmed that her baby was just a month old. I confronted her and she said she didn't get pregnant so she bought someone else's sperm for the insemination. I was grateful to her because I didn't want to become a baby father to a woman I did not love. We promised each other to keep it a secret and I went on and promised her that Emerald will be my responsibility. My mum is not aware of it and I don't know how she'd react if she gets to know that we've been lying to her all along. This is the truth, Leona. " He walked to me but I backed away.

Everything dawned on me and reality sank in.

On the other hand, I was glad that he was not the father of Emerald but I can't overlook the massive fact that Dave has unknowingly been the reason for my suffering and everything I've been going through. He orchestrated everything without knowing or he knew.

He tried to touch me but I swatted his hand away.

"Don't touch me, Dave."
